How much longer are the sanctions? For the same money, I'd stay at Vanderbilt.

Franklin can't do much more than he's done at Vandy. He could make PSU a legitimate contender.

Moving to PSU apparently means dealing with "well Paterno would have done this..." yeah...frick that.

unfortunately 9-4 is more than likely Vand'y ceiling. Franklin's stock may never be any higher

Franklin sticking it out at Vandy is commendable. No way he stays there for the long term though, some big school is going to take him.

Vandy better match. If they lose Franklin they lose everything (which isn't much)

Possibly but realistically how many jobs bigger than Penn St are going to open up in the next few years. Florida and Michigan are the only two off the top of my head with instability. He also isn't a lock to land a bigger job just because he held out. There is always going to be new hot names coaches every year to compete against for those jobs.

If he stays, look for serious stadium renovations (not expansion but updating) to be part of the package.

He might want to go to the NFL.

He's not pissed about the stadium. It's the fans that won't fill it up.

The thinking being that the stadium is a dump and is long over due for renovations. Will be part of the plan to build the fan base.

Renovations would be nice. I've got to say though, I went there in '09 for our game and I didn't think it was that bad. Plus the campus is awesome. The only problem is the parking IMO.

I don't think it's bad either. I really like the place.

Change out all or most of the bleachers for seats. Bathrooms are awful and concessions are too. Make it a stadium (albeit small) that we don't have to apologize for.

Two more years, and totally agree.

I dunno, I said the same things about USCe around 2009 when Spurrier couldn't really do better than 7-6. They went absolutely beast mode after that.

Granted, it's apples and oranges because Vandy has the academic obstacles that hinder recruiting, but I think Franklin could possibly get some exceptions in place in a new contract if he stays. He's already gotten them to start taking football seriously from a funding standpoint.
