Everyone expects a smaller school to take the chance after his issues. It's just crazy for him to get hired back at a school he was at which is a pretty big job for him.

Because Louisville is in a position now where they can attract a decent coach. WKU was a small non-AQ program looking to get a good coach on the cheap whom they knew wouldn't stick around long.

Jurich better jack that buyout up, or else Petrino will bolt for the first SEC offer he gets (if he ever gets one).

wow Louisville...you follow up Charlie Stong with Bobby P??

That's what's sort of puzzling. They always fawned over Strong because he's supposed to be the classy, high character guy.

Sort of going the other way with BP.

Petrino was a great hire for WKU. Everyone, including WKU, knew he wasn't going there to retire. At best they might keep him for two seasons before he moved back into a major program. They could look past his moral and ethical record and get a great coach who could elevate their program. Whether he accomplished that, I have no idea, but it seems like he generated a lot of interest in WKU and probably helped their fanbase.

But Louisville hiring him... well, it's bold. I think it's a mistake. Louisville is a pretty decent program and Strong proved that you don't have to be Petrino to win there. I think they should have taken a chance on hiring a great coordinator with head coaching potential, like they did with Strong.

Hiring Petrino is like marrying the chick that dumped you for a 'better' guy, left that guy for another guy, then got caught cheating on THAT guy and had to move in with a truck stop cashier. After a year of that, she comes crawling back to you. Sure, she's still hot and good in bed, but she's a pretty gross person and she's got a lot of baggage. Probably STDs too. In conclusion, Petrino totally has herpes.

I know he's a really good football coach, but this seems like a big mistake. There's no way he will stay at Louisville long term either, and a lot of Cards fans blame him for what happened to their team after he left. I know a lot of Arkansas fans feel the same way now that they're in the dumpster.

It's...risky.

Agreed. Bold move, and dice roll for a program at a point where it really doesn't have to roll the dice, which makes it that more puzzling. Why not an up-and-comer like Hudspeth or a great coordinator like Narduzzi like they did when they got Strong?

Probably the best summation of this situation.

I wouldn't consider UL a big school either. What they just barely became relevant in football recently....if you want to call it that.

I don't think it will take any longer than 2015 either.
