Can Coach Jones give O'Bryant some rest???

He played all but 10 seconds of the first half until he drew his second foul with a couple of minutes left. It was clear that with 5+ minutes to go he was gassed.
What happened to playing Odo and Malone as a second unit with Coleman? Does every play have to be run for O'Bryant when he is in there? Even though the announcers say that Mickey doesn't need any plays, calling some for him might be a good idea...

Tennessee may very well be the most physical team in the SEC. I think you'll see Malone and Odo a lot more in every game not against Florida, UT, or kentucky.

Can Coach Jones give O'Bryant get some rest??? Engrishh please. The answer is no. He needs all the reps he can get. The dudes draft stock is going down as we speak.

But O'Bryant can't go every minute of the first half. His draft stock is going down because CJJ is misusing him. He looked awesome for the first 10 minutes.

Johnny leads the team in turnovers. He looks lost out there when he is double teamed. I swear, sometimes he looks like he is on the beach staring at the ocean, particularly when he gets 3 seconds in the lane called on him. Sad.

I'm just curious-since Johnny Jones is misusing O'bryant, how would YOU manage O'bryant? What is it in O'bryant's game that you feel like is being mismanaged?...and to comment on Mie2cents' post, I agree. He just doesn't seem like a smart guy overall

Id try this lineup:
Odo
O'Bryant
Coleman
Morgan
Hickey
I think that puts a rebounder in the game with JOB and helps give us more size/speed 1-3.
When Odo goes out, press. Or play Mickey and press to start the game.
We start out to lackadaisical at home (lack of crowd energy) and need to be playing fast from the start.
That's my .02

Ummmm so our best player, Mickey, won't be playing as much. Have you watched John Odo out there>

Yes, but Odo is a better rebounder. Mickey still gets plenty if minutes, I just think JOB needs to be paired with a center, not a stretch 4.

Morgan looks terrible imo. He can't create his own shot. Doesn't really dribble drive with any effectiveness, and is good for a few momentum killing costly turn overs per game.

Also, JOB sat for the first 12 min of the second half against RI. Where were you?

I think the problem is the role O'Bryant wants to play. To fit in the system, CJJ needs JOBIII to play as a power forward. If you have noticed over the past 3 seasons, JOBIII has really thinned out and tries to play more of a Small Forward role. In his first season as a Freshman his raw talent was impressive but apparently has been listening to the scouts who are telling him he needs to slim up and improve on his longer range shooting. This is forcing JOBIII to play farther away from the basket thus the lack of presence in the middle.
Thoughts?

It's not just Morgan. Hickey is the only guy on the team who can create off the dribble but he tends to disappear in half court. This team needs guys who can handle the ball and break down defense off the dribble. As another poster lauded to, I think you get some of that next year with Hornsby and Gray. Also the Patterson kid seems to be pretty effective at getting to the rim.
