NFL Network hates the Saints also

Lots of highlights of SF vs. the Packers. Then Harbaugh mumbling for several minutes about his flight after the game.

Saints highlights: Philly gets go-ahead TD, then Saints kick game-winning FG. Period.

Then lots of highlights of SD vs. Cincy. Then a bunch of highlights of Chiefs vs. Colts.

They spent about 30 seconds on the Saints game.

You would think it would be the feel-good story of the season, a team rising from the ashes of an unfairly imposed death penalty.

But of course Darth Goodell is probably directing the coverage on NFLN.

Or the story of overcoming road woes and getting their first road playoff win.

The Sunday games get more attention because they happened yesterday.

And the Colts/Chiefs game was the 2nd biggest comeback in NFL history.

Damn good point. The media is such a herd. If they are not ALL saying it it doesn't exit it seems. None looked at us as dangerous (only team in f@cking playoffs top 5 in off. and def.) but as a team that MUST lose because thats the narrative we are putting out this week. Sad.

Did they happen to mention that Goodell was at the Saints game sitting with the Eagles brass? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Publicly, Saints have at all times taken the high road during the first season after Payton’s suspension. Privately, the franchise surely took extra satisfaction in Saturday night’s win, especially since it was witnessed by Commissioner Roger Goodell, who was sitting with the Eagles.

You skeered Roger?

re: NFL Network hates the Saints also
Darth Goodell...lol! That's about right.

He must be the one instructing the refs on the endless uncalled penalties the other teams are getting away with when they play the Saints.

I mean refereeing is worse than usual and it is being exposed with new video technology..but the missed calls on the Saints this year has cost us games.

We have to fight through it too much of the time. Seattle is one of several teams we play with COACHED cheating and COACHED whining, and I'm sure it will continue this coming week.

And to think dictator Goodell slandered, labeled, and punished us with "no-evidence" cheating charges. It does seem like a movie plot.

NO RESPEK!!!!

I would think outside of Louisiana/parts of the Gulf Coast no one gives a flying frick about the Saints.

Rabbit- I noticed that too, but you know, that's ok, in fact I hope everyone picks Seattle this week, and says we don't have a chance. One thing I took from yesterday's game, was that we beat the jinx- won on the road, a playoff game no doubt, in the cold. We now know what to expect at Seattle, team will be better prepared, I think the team is going to surprise the so-called experts. Saints have not forgotten that last disaster in Seattle!

Bout to say, and this surprises you why? We go to Seattle and beat them, you'll hear them talk about us all you want

This surprises me because we knew that ESPN hates the Saints. We thought NFLN liked the Saints. But they don't. They're haters too.

Actually, I'm not surprised. Small market. Never gonna get the coverage.

ESPN did a top 10 plays from the wildcard weekend today and included the other three games and not a single one from the Saints game.

re: NFL Network hates the Saints also
I get frustrated by that as well. It's not like I expect them to gush over the Saints, but we don't seem to get any love at all. I listened to NFL Radio on the way to work yesterday....an hour drive, and the only discussion was right at the bottom of the hour and lasted all of a minute. On top of that, it was more about how Philly had no reason to hang there heads, it was kelly's first year, Foles, blah blah blah.

They also got into a discussion on how great of a job Belichick is doing in NE with all the distractions and injuries the team has had, and it got me thinking.....SP has not been mentioned at all for coach of the year honors. We stunk last year, had statistically the worst defense in the history of the league, and went 7-9. All SP did was immediately address the defense by firings Spags, made what turned out to be a great hire in Ryan, got us to 11-5 and almost a division title...and he's still not done. I think he's done a hell of a job having been totally out of football for a year.

The Sirius NFL channel this morning from 6 to 7 was all Bengals, Colts and Chargers. A little bit about the Cheatriots and that was it.

re: NFL Network hates the Saints also
We must face it... without the Katrina story line, the national media could give two fricks about the Saints. Even now, when they do talk about us, they mention the post-Katrina moment between Brees and Payton. It's the only thing they know.

Even thought the Saints were 11-5 with the toughest schedule among playoff teams and have a top 5 offense and defense, the entire country acts as if the victory over the Eagles, a 10-6 team with an easy schedule in the easiest division in the NFL, was a fluke.

Fortunately for the Saints, the NFL isn't college football and championships aren't won by media votes. Win. That's all.

I think part of it is everyone assumes we are going to get beat at Seattle, so there are no storylines for us going forward. Everyone else "has a chance" in the playoffs.

Was there a play from the Saints/Eagles game that would qualify as a "top ten highlight?"

I can't think of one.

re: NFL Network hates the Saints also
Exactly. Other than the game winning kick there weren't too many signature/exciting plays a national audience would be interested in… was a fairly sloppy game overall.

No one 'hates' the Saints. Networks are driven by money. Money comes from showing the most entertaining plays from the most popular teams.
