Should LSU change its policy regarding Hall of Fame eligibility?

Currently only athletes who graduate are eligible to be inducted into the LSU Athletic HoF.
This policy precludes some well known former LSU athletes from getting in.....Pete Maravich, for example.
I feel very strongly both ways.
What say you?

I love the current situation, except maybe posthumously award it.

Pete was kicked out of school. Bad example.

The all time NCAA leading basketball scorer is NOT a bad example for not being eligible to be in the HoF.

Yes. His is a lot more than not graduating. He was not even in good standing with the university.
At least have to hold up concept of student athlete somewhere at LSU

So, please answer my original question....no grad, not eligible?

It is the LSU ATHLETIC HoF not the LSU those who graduated Athletic HoF. If you are deemed to have made significant enough athletic achievements while at LSU, then you should get in.

It will have to change if the main criteria is outstanding accomplishments on the field of play. Nowadays not one athlete with that criteria will ever graduate from a 4 yr. institution. Going forward they will completely bypass this entire era of players if changes are not made. I say change is needed.

You must be a graduate; keep it that way.

Be college graduate to get in. Can always go back to school after sports career over. Do not have to be lsu grad

Why should it matter how long you stayed? I feel that impact is most important regardless of length of time.

He was not even in good standing with the university.
What is wrong with that picture?
I think an exception should be made for Pete and he should be in the HoF.

I could buy this except they named an arena after him...

Naming was a legislative rule
HOF is a university rule
Respect their rule

I like the graduation rule
How hard is it really?

But no graduation requirement for that naming. No exception was made, and none should be made now.

These guys are supposed to be STUDENT-athletes.
Shaq came back and graduated after he initially left school. A college degree goes a long way once your pro career is finished.
They should have to graduate. I like the rule.

Maravich knew the rule. If he wanted in so bad, he would have taken those steps to qualify. Dont know why this is so difficult
