If anyone ever questioned what Lewis means to this defense

They should watch the 2nd half of last night's game. The second Lewis went out after that pass break up, Sweating and White got abused. It was stunning to see how easily Files shredded our secondary after Lewis left. We were an entirely different defensive team. This was by far the best FA signing for us since Darren Sproles.

Just imagine how great it'd be if we'd have a healthy Jabari and PRob. Lewis is no doubt our #1 asset to this D. We def need him going forward but just think how much shuffling Rob Ryan has done w/ this unit in the secondary? Phenomenal job of scheming. I still say White is best at nickel and not too shabby as a #2. You have to remember when he was use to covering Cooper and Avant most of the night there's going to be a step up when he had to cover Desean. All in all last night was absolutely great! All 3 phases helped win this game.

Agreed

I was laughing so hard last might (which I needed at the moment) in a trash thread

"Somebody needs to give Lewis a helmet"

"Sweeting!!!"

Triplette has been on the Lewis Pro Bowl wagon for a while. I believe him now. Shut down Desean.

Lewis' absence on the field was noticeable. Hope he's back next week, we'll need him. And since we are singing praises, sure do miss Vacarro too.

I'm not sure of the consuss protocol but we will need him in Seattle. His health is more important than playing.

maybe not, but I don't think he was considered THAT good. I saw him as a capable, experienced corner, not a liability but not elite either. When you see the difference after he goes out, it's unreal.

Like someone else said, imagine if Greer, Robinson, and Vaccaro were healthy too. Super Bowl run with merely an average offensive performance.

They said it 50 times on TV last night. I'm pretty convinced most of you guys just watch TV to see what the analysts are saying and then come on here to present the same argument as fact almost as if you were the only one who could possibly observe this or know it.

He showed everyone last night what the saints and the steelers already know... Lewis is a total badass.

Sweeting will be a good little player for us. Not as good as White is gonna be, but he also doesn't have the experience white has earned.

That said, we need Lewis big time vs Seattle bc no way Sweeting can hold it down in this big of a game.

When we first picked him up, i was thinking "what's the catch? Is he washed up or sub par?...." I kept thinking about Randal Gay or Jason David and how i was stoked to pick up a guy that started in a super bowl and they arrive in New Orleans to under achieve. Lewis wanted to be back home to finish play and he's been better than i expected.
