Let me preface this with I don't think CLM is a bad recruiter or bad coach but this recruiting cycle tells me LSU needs some serious changes in their approach to recruiting. They seem to put all of their eggs in one basket. For example I am thrilled they got LF but they didn't recruit a rb last year if LF had decided to elsewhere we would've been screwed. I don't like the fact that we will wait until late in the game to start offering kids that are committed to other schools because we have missed on someone like Willis. LSU needs to get some young La coaches on their staff for recruiting and the reason I say this some of the guys on our staff do not seem to be able to get a handle or relate to some of the kids in state kids. This year alone it looks as if most of the top talent in the state is leaving the state. Cam Robinson, Hootie Jones, Willis, Speedy, Sims and several others. Recruiting is the life blood of a program and I admit that LSU has done well in the past but the game seems to be changing. We look desperate offering kids that have been committed to other schools and at the midnight hour we go in saying well we didn't get who really wanted so now were interested in you. I feel like these other schools are playing chess and we're still checkers.

Ever think that lsu was led to believe they had these certain players you are crying about but then had to offer others after?

I see what you're saying. However, two things. We really don't know exactly what the LSU recruiting strategy was/is. And two, it ultimately comes down to the kid's decision.

We've moved up to 5th in the composite ranking with what 7 spots still available...yeah we're playing checkers alright.

You should write a book on college football recruiting. Sounds like you have it all figured out.

Offering and accepting lesser players is a bad strategy. You can't land a 5 star if you don't pursue them. The staff gauged interest, liked their chances, and pressed hard.

This isn't science. It's all fluid and relies on high school kids. LSU still has a top 5 class. And it was almost one of the greatest classes ever. The staff is going fine.

We seem to be out of touch. It is easy for coaches to say "that kid said he was coming but the kid lied." Sounds like people covering their arse. They don't seem to be dialed in enough.

Yeah these high profile kids that no one else is recruiting should be all lsu!

Too bad we only have 3 5* and what 11 4* players committed. Only a top 5 class. Let's just change everything cause obviously notionis working

You do know we landed the #1 player this year, possibly the #1 player next year and what else can we say about Dylan Thomas? Future sure
Looks bleak

Ok bury your head in the sand. Y'all are right missed on the states best players with the exception of LF. I see a trend. All is well

Top 5 class with spots to fill is not dialed in? Interesting.

You think you know more and are more in touch than our coaching staff? You can't be this clueless. Is this your first year following recruiting?

Les Miles can't catch a break. If he locks down his state, he has fertile recruiting ground and his recruits are basically given to him. He misses, and he doesn't know what he is doing.

Some guys just don't want to go to LSU.
