So, after years of lurking and spending way too many hours of my life on this website, I decided to go ahead and make an account. This post will be long, so turn back now if you don’t want to take a few minutes to read it

LSU has a lot to look forward to, specifically in the 2015 season. I think the Tigers will win 9-10 games in 2014 due to the high talent levels alone, but we will still be breaking in a new QB and be starting many young, unpolished, but extremely talented players.

They have had a good recruiting haul this year, even with losing Speedy to A&M and GW3 to Florida. I understand Speedy’s choice as he can go with his best friend, and he will be in a position to show out in that offense, assuming that they can find a QB to fill the void of JFF going pro. The GW3 decision baffles me. He could be an immediate starter here, but whatever. Everything can’t always go our way, and we will see who we pick up between now and signing day.

Starting in 2015, LSU should be primed and ready to make a Bama-esque run at multiple national titles. Here’s why:

We will have a now experienced Junior or Sophomore QB in Jennings or Harris, depending upon which wins the starting QB job. Both have a lot to learn, but will have tremendous upside once they learn the ropes of everything.

Fournette will be a Sophomore at RB, and will have a years’ worth of experience. Look for this kid to make an enormous impact. It would not surprise me to see both Fournette and Henry from Alabama making a run at a Heisman trophy for a couple of years.

We will be absolutely loaded at receiver/tight end at this point. We will have Travin Dural as a Junior, Trey Quin will be sophomore and should see plenty of playing time in 2014, so he will have some experience. He has the tools of a stud in the making. We still have a shot at Dupre as well. If we get him and have him as a sophomore as well, we suddenly have a very strong receiving core. Dillon Gordon will be a Senior. I would love to see him make more of an impact. Jacory Washington will be a sophomore with a year under his belt, and I look for him to pass Gordon for the starting job. He is a tight end that could line up as a receiver and torch opposing safeties and linebackers.

The O-Line is a bit tougher to predict. We would have Trai Turner and Vadal Alexander as seniors, but Turner has expressed going pro this year. I honestly wouldn’t expect to have either of these guys back for their senior years. Collins, Williford, and Porter will definitely be gone due to graduation, so none of this year’s starters will be back for the 2014 campaign. However, we do have some young studs who could fill in nicely with Pocic, Hawkins, Boutte, Clapp, and Brumfield, depending upon how they all continue their growth and development.

On the D-Line, Danielle Hunter and Quentin Thomas will be our Senior defensive ends should they come back for the senior seasons. I would like to see a lot of progression from these guys. Hopefully they can become impact players on the D-Line. On the inside, it’s looking like Christian LaCouture will be one starter, but I’m not sure about the second. (Sure would be nice to have GW3 huh?) Godchaux and Clark will be sophomores and will get a chance to show what they can do as well. Maybe one of them slides inside?

Linebackers should be a strength for us by this point. It sounds crazy considering our underachieving backers the past two years. Ronnie Feist, Lamar Louis, and Kendall Beckwith would all be seniors, assuming they are still here. Deion Jones looks posed for a breakout and would be a junior. Plus, Clifton Garret and Donnie Alexander will be true sophomores and we will have to see how they turn out. That could be some insane depth for us at the linebacker positions.

Now for the secondary. This is what I’m the most excited about on defense. We should return to DBU status with this group. Jalen Collins, Jalen Mills, and Corey Thompson would be our seniors. Rickey Jefferson, Rashard Robinson, and Tre White would be our juniors. Plus we have Jamal Adams, Edward Paris, and Devin Voorhies coming in and they could all see some playing time as sophomores. Not to mention that we could have some freakish d-backs like Kevin Tolliver II coming in in next year’s recruiting class who may fight for some play time too.

For special teams, Keehn will be a senior and Delahoussaye will be a junior.

There is such an insane amount of that talent on this 2015 squad, and most of them will be juniors and sophomores, ready to make a big run for us for a few years to come. The future is bright Tiger fans! Just sit back and enjoy the ride, because it may get really fun like we’ve not experienced before.

Projecting out 2 years on CFB players who have never seen a minute of real playing time in the SEC is like trying to predict the stock market.

Can I make a 2015 futures bet on the NC?

Yeah, good post. I think LSU has seen a couple of off cycle years with the defense and offense being in different places experience wise. 2015 will be the first time since 2011 that it will align again.

Isn't QT a Defensive Tackle, not Defensive End? I think Beckwith or one of the Freshman who redshirted from this year would make more sense here.

Interesting takes.

I was thinking during the Fournette committment that we're looking at the next 3-4 years. Some kids in this next class will be around for 5 years. How many years do some of the SEC coaches have left in them? How many more recruiting classes do they have left to sign?

Spurrier will turn 70 this year, 3-4?

Saban will turn 63, 5-7?

Miles is 60, 8-10?

How many seasons until Richt loses control of recruiting, 2-3?

These next 5 years could put LSU in a great position for the future.

this is the issue. it seems unlikely they will be back for that year

assuming they stay more than 3 years, which is the problem

We are in a great postion for the future TODAY. As many have stated -- except for the fact that we are in the same division as Alabama during their unprecedented run.... LSU would have won even more games, titles and championships.

The difference between Alabama and LSU is razor thin ---- Bama is currently on a 2 game losing streak, by the time LSU plays Alabama next season we could well be on a 10 game winning streak.

So, the future is bright NOW.... let's enjoy the ride.

OP --- Nice 1st.... good job and welcome in to the Rant!

Brandon Harris will have been in the system for years. He will be ready.

Not every athlete we recruit is going to bolt after three years just because players are doing it now. Winning championships is fun. If they have a shot they may stay.

These guys that are leaving now are absolute studs. They are NFL ready right now, no questions asked. It's not like every recruiting class we have will be packed with that kind of polished talent. Hill, OBJ, and Landry can play NFL ball right now. Probably start for many teams. Mingo went in last year and started and made an immediate impact. Same with TM7. And PP7 and Mo a few years ago. Reid is a starting safety on a playoffs team. Minter is getting alot of PT in Arizona. Brockers is a stud DT. Even Bennie Logan has been making plays this year.

Bottom line is their decisions were justified because they were ready. It won't always be like that.

you were just celebrating that very talent

which is it: will they be studs worthy of leaving early, or non-studs that won't be able to win LSU titles?

you can't have it both ways

Some of the names mentioned will be gone by then assuming the Tigers have a decent enough year next year.

that's pretty much what i'm saying

either our guys are good enough to leave, and they will, or they aren't, and we won't win anything

I love LSU but this is a bias post. You can make the exact same argument for about 7 other teams in college football in 2015 and beyond b/c other teams have excellent Talent/recruits also. I'm also optimistic but don't count any chickens.

plus projecting players to still be here for their sr years is not realistic anymore.
