On Thursday, The Hayride cited an unnamed source in reporting the divisive former governor was considering a run at Louisiana's 6th Congressional District, which encompasses a large swath of the southeastern quadrant of the state including parts of Baton Rouge and the river parishes.

The report added Edwards' daughter Anna was encouraging the chatter.

While Edwards still has support among some Democratic circles in Louisiana, his time spent behind bars means he cannot run for a statewide office for 15 years without receiving a pardon. However, the outspoken Cajun, dubbed "the Silver Fox" by supporters, can run for federal office without such a pardon.

Any ideas who this "source" might be? Any thoughts??

I think it would be an embarrassment if this convicted felon were to be elected to Congress.

Yeah, plenty of those types of comments on the KATC facebook page under the article.

"So what if he's a crook. They're all crooks!" Yeah, so what if someone robs a bank, other people do it too!

"I would vote for him for President!"

Of course, my favorite, "I'd vote for him. He's a much better choice than Mary Landrieu!" Umm...Mary Landrieu is a Senator, not a U.S. Rep.

Oh shite...there's NOBODY ELSE RUNNING!!! He could very well win...

If I was old enough to run for Congress, I'd run just with the hope of splitting the vote enough to force a runoff.

You know your government is out of control when a convicted felon can even run for office.

They should run an episode of their TV show all weekend one weekend and that would cure even the most afflicted EWE devotee.

Seriously, he can run for congress?

How is this criminal not ostracized and reviled at every mention of him?

Lousiana citizens aren't doing a good job of making sure his name is complete shite right now for this report to be out there. The idea of him in an elected office ever again should be hilariously laughable, not remotely plausibe as this report would have you believe.

Cassidy is running for the Senate and Edwards may possibly run for his old House seat and Cassidy is shitting his pants?

Surely, you would prefer Cassidy over a POS like Edwards? Right?

And there are people that think Hillary can't win...Anyone that would vote for EWE is an absolute idiot...those same idiots will keep voting liberal/democrat until the day they die...Hell, he could be a pedophile and these idiots would say, "Well, he did so much for the State!" And we wonder why our country is in the shape it's in...

Don't leap to conclusions. I still have my certificate naming me a Colonel on Edwin's staff.

I'm going to have to move to the 6th and vote for him a dozen times then.

Yes we'd have been far better off with the Constitution of 1921 and a KKK Grand Wizard as governor - try telling your parents that see what they say.

Democrats in this state still completely in love with a crook POS that's a convicted felon. No wonder why Louisiana has shifted red.

Yes David Duke would have been a great governor, and the Constitution of 1921 surely would have left us better off. Three rounds of elections for state office - AWESOME - why did that a-hole felon get rid of those? Consolidation of lots and lots of state agencies into larger departments - clearly not a streamlined approach to government.

I guess all the blacks and women he appointed must have made you uncomfortable as well - though you weren't even alive back then, were you?

I would've abstained from voting in that abortion of an election. It would've been the morally correct and morally conscienable thing to do.

Three rounds in an election? That's actually not a bad idea at all.

He gave us a terrible state consitution during his time in office.

Correct.

I have no problem with that even if they were crooks like him.

No. It wouldn't have.

You're acting like Edwards was already a convicted felon when he ran against Duke. That's the thing with righties - 20/20 hindsight - it works 100% of the time, all the time. The only other explanation is you seriously don't care about what would happen to minorities with a KKK grand wizard as governor.

More government. Awesome.

You'd seriously prefer the Constitution of 1921. That's great.

Like most youth, you're so morally righteous.
