Going to Chicago for Navy boot camp Monday and just a little curious.

Anybody been there before? I know it's going to be cold and I've obviously gotten advice from my recruiters but anybody have experience from boot camp personally and have more advice?

My little brother graduated from there back in 2000. He said it was a walk in the park if you are halfway squared away but it's gonna suck in the Winter. His dream was to be in the SEALS and he said he and his buddies actually requested more PT. It's not USMC by any stretch.

Waukegan is an absolute winter wonderland. They will treat you fair and square. Do every thing they say to the best if your ability and you will do fine. Stay away from the tattoo places and avoid any suggestion to get a black panther with a dagger through his head . If you get a three day pass go to Milwaukee

Know your SSN
Stop writing in cursive
Don't fall asleep on watch
Be friends with the watch bill coordinator so you don't have balls to 2 watch.
Don't be first, don't be last.
Learn how to iron like a pro
Make friends and help those who are fricking up because you'll be paying the price for it later
Try to get a rack in the middle of the "ships" berthing, not the back or the front near the office.
Write a list of address and phone numbers and put it in your wallet
Sleep as much as you can right now and on the trip there. There will be no sleep for the first 72 hours
Know your SSN
