Don't liberals hate large corporations and monopolies? Why is a Wal-Mart of insurance ok? When you see ads for healthcare.gov, doors it look any different than ads fir anything else?

With the government, we can get employment insurance, retirement insurance, food insurance, and now health insurance. By "can get" I mean "forced to buy." We have no say in the price, the "benefits," etc. Government is the only entity that can fine or imprison you for not purchasing their products. We are governed by a bunch of insurance salesmen. Tell me how I'm wrong.

But it's rich politicians and their friends making all the money, not greedy old rich white guys.

They somehow think the government actually has their best interest and not just figuring out a way to redistribute wealth to themselves.

Are you sure about that? They always want to grow it, it's never enough, and they even build automatic growth into their budget every year. How is it not profit motivated?

Very true. It's profit CONFISCATION, in service to the economic social justice ideology.

Mud on the wall. We'll see what sticks.

Right, government(democrat) motives are only to help people. There's no other motive than altruism.

maybe some do. It's hardly a key facet of the belief system. Walmart is awesome for poor people.

The vast majority do. You seem to be in a tiny minority. Good for you.

How long do you think it will take for the force of government to create a monopoly in the health insurance industry? According to Obama, 10-15 years.

Considering real world insurance is the spreading of risk with duty to defend its really not a close parallel at all.

Also you have contractual rights to sue your carrier. Good luck suing uncle sam

This is really my point. The federal government, as it's being run, is a giant insurance company except for the fact that we as citizens have no recourse whatsoever. Liberals hate corporations because of their "power," but corporate power can never stack up to the monopoly of force. The government now forces us to buy various policies and products, and there's not a damn thing we can do about it as individuals. The only way we can escape a bad insurance product is to fricking leave our homeland.

I can elect all the people I have the power to, but unelected bureaucrats hold the power there. Nice try.

It's power maximization.

That's why there will NEVER be a reasonably simple tax system, too much power in compelling activity with arcane predatory tax rules.

And these guys bitch about "predatory lending." With the "predatory lending," the "victim" has to accept the terms and agree to the "predation" by either not reading the contract or not caring about the consequence.

With the laws, nobody can do shite. The politicians can pass the laws and they're protected by the donors who wanted the laws passed. The "regulators" (read: the mob) are accountable to nobody.

Well, there is the matter of the most powerful military the world has ever seen!

Just having a little fun. I have heard the current US government as a health insurance company with an army.

I go to Walmart every other day. They are the only store that carries the Gumballs that Lucy likes. She throws away the orange ones. She hates orange Gumballs and I can't even give it to the dogs since gum is not good for them.
They are also open at 5 a.m. so I can do some shopping before Starbucks opens at 5:30.
