So, my pops got me a new 45-70 for xmas. It came without a scope on it and I was coming to the OB to help me pick one out. It has to be a x40 nothing bigger will fit and it's that silver color also with a camo stock so I would like the grey/silver color scope. Price range around $200-$250.

wanting a barrel and scope to match is far from acting like a chick

First of all we like to say "Christmas" instead of xmas. And second of all, this should meet your needs. Lastly, make sure your purse and shoes are also silver so you don't clash too bad.

Wait, is it pale silver, Roman silver, or old silver?

I have a 3x9 Leupold VX-1 in silver on mine- H&R Ultra Hunter- stainless rifle with laminated stock. Used a silver Talley mount for it.

Best looking gun I own- and I have plenty.

I'm looking for a 35 whelen or a 45-70. I don't know which to pick. My brother has a 35 whelen and he is pushing me to get the 45-70 just so he can borrow it.

I understand the the .35 Whelen is far superior to the 45-70. Haven't shot one to say.

I can get a 3/4" 3 shot group at 100 yards with my 45-70, but I will say thay it is very persnickity about barrell cleanliness and a number of fouling shots to get it back grouping again after cleaning.

You'll appreciate the knock down power of the .45/70, I know I do.

I've shot whelens for old guys that were wondering if they were still 'on' from last year. Shot once for a guy Mr. Hubert a couple years ago and placed it dead center bullseye at 100 yards. I told him, if he missed it wasn't the gun.

I'd like to get one of those next, but I've killed so many with my H&R .45/70, I'd have to justify it by saying it would be for my son who isn't born/conceived yet.

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting the .45/70. My bro will let me borrow his .35 whelen.

The scope experts will Make some great recs. Congrats on ur gun. My suggestion, having tried scopes on this gun, is ghost rings. Xs sights makes some great ones. By the way scopes work great on it but its such a better gun for all things with ghost rings. Unbelievable.
