Fantasy champs, what's your formula?

The winner of my league autodrafted without adjusting ESPNs predraft rankings and did nothing more than plug in players based on ESPNs point projections.
Is the hands off approach the best approach or is this just an anomaly?

The guy I played for the ship had his team drafted for him by another guy at our draft based on best available.
I on the other hand managed to have one of the worst drafts in years, but was able to manage my team to the ship barely making the playoffs.
I've won 4 titles in 5 years, and I'd like to think otherwise, but the longer I play fantasy, the more I realize it's luck.

Even the sun shines on a dog's arse some days.
The formula for me always starts with a strong draft. I fully believe that you can't win your league in the first 3 rounds, but you can certainly lose it if you take too many risks. And you build a title team primarily in the middle rounds (6-11) while the idiots are busy over-drafting their backup QBs and starting DEF.
Equally important post-draft is your ability season-long to effectively manage your roster not only by starting the right guys but through smart waiver wire adds (before the player becomes the national "add of the week") and timely trades (I always make 1-2 trades per season in an effort to move depth for better starters).
And of course, to take home an elusive title you will always need just the right amount of intangible luck in the form of: avoiding key injuries, getting great playoff matchups, drawing poor playoff matchups for your opponent's, injuries to your opponent's key guys, etc. that you simply cannot account for most of the time but inevitably enjoy to a large extent when you win it all.

Doing really shitty in the beginning and getting a high waiver order to replace the injured stars and slide into the playoffs.

I'm 100% positive an autodrafted team has never won a league that I played in.
Biggest things I see others do that bites them in the arse is:
Going into the draft with a strategy of drafting certain positions in certain rounds.
Waiting too long for a QB.
Wasting later round picks on low rish low reward guys.

Or draft a stud early and fill out your roster in later rounds while people drafting out of a CVS magazine are taking guys like Jones-drew and Mcfadden when Pierre Garcons and Desean Jacksons are still on the board.

Manage your team everyday and play the waiver wire pick up players as breaking news hit

I would go into the draft thinking if I can get Rodgers, Brees, Manning late 1st or in the 2nd/3rd round, do it. If not, wait and take Stafford or Rivers.

Late round picks, waiver wire additions, and a couple of trades built my team. My top 5 picks were Morris, MJD, Roddy White, Vincent Jackson, and Monte Ball. Still won the title.
It's also luck too. None of my starters were every really hurt for more than a week or two .

I don't see anything wrong with that. What I usually end up seeing is a guy saying "my RBS sucked last year I'm going RB-RB-RB this year." Easiest way to not winning a championship imo, in every draft there will be legit players that slip because of people with the strategy above and the people who scoop up the guys that fall usually are the ones playing for the $$.

perfect example this year for me.
"Forte was hurt and got vultured last year I don't want him"
Got him in the 3rd

No set formula. There are a few tips though:
1) During the draft, don't panic if you're weak at a position and reach rather than take a stud. Year after year it happens...McFadden over Julio, MJD over Demaryius, etc. Keep in mind that RBs are hard to come by and try to get a stud early, but don't panic and wreck your team with picks like that.
2) Don't overdraft positions. Why take a backup QB when you drafted Brees or Peyton? Bye week? That's stupid. Only draft 1 QB if you have a guy you're starting every week. Instead of drafting a backup that eats a roster spot, take a flyer on a low-risk/high-reward guy, like Knowshon or Josh Gordon.
3) Don't overdraft kickers or defenses. Just pay attention to the early weeks of the season, and you can snatch up a good D and kicker. I got the Panthers D and Vinatieri through FA.
4) Waiver wire. This is where some experience helps, trying to separate a one-week wonder from an emerging fantasy stud. Do some research and prioritize your claims accordingly.

Draft either a TE early/qb late (1st and 11th rd) or vice versa....than draft the best rb or wr every draft pick in between (2-10 rds).
You will have a stud TE or QB and have 9 draft picks to find 5 starters. Add depth. With rwmaining picks. K and def last 2 picks.

Load up on rb, can never have enough. I drafted McCoy and Forte in the 1st 2 rounds, got Lacey, Deangalo Williams and Fjax in the middle rounds and Moreno with my last pick.

Ride a unicorn while chewing on a rabbit's foot with a four leaf clover encrusted horseshoe stuck up your arse on the way to blow a leprechaun just before the draft.

Lol that sounds about right.
My opponent had a player(s) have his best week of the season against me 19 times in the 13 week regular season. Is that normal?

Draft at least two stud WRs. One stud RB. Middle of road QB. Use waivers to search for the future starter.
