HRC's around Cenla/Lafy

I've trained several labs that were jam up duck dogs in the past but never had any desire to pursue field trials or hunt tests because I was a broke college kid. Now all I do is work, hunt, and whatever the wife has me lined up around the house.
I have a young pup that I feel is ready for the tests, Any of you guys in the area want to share some pointers/etiquette with the HRC tests (what the judges look at, what's taboo, what's expected, etc)
I'm probably going to just join one of the local chapters with hopes of working and learning the ins and outs of the HRC scene.
Thanks

Central Louisiana hunting retriever club is the name for that area and the one near Lafayette is called Cajun HRC. I also highly recommend Joe Perron of champion retrievers. He trained my Maggie and ran her for 1.5 years. We brought her to him at 5-6 months old and he had her through her first international grand hunt test this past spring. Joining a club and attending some tests is the best way to learn the ropes. The people at tests are very nice and always trying to recruit new members. You can volunteer at tests and learn a lot by doing so. Good luck.

Cajun is the largest club in the state if memory serves me correct (Amite River may be bigger), very organized and very well run. Central is also a good club can't go wrong with either of them in my opinion.
