Undergoing brain surgery at the moment. I don't watch racing but I figured some of you might care.

This board is more of a NASCAR crowd, but good luck to him and I hope he pulls through.

Neither do I but that sucks. If he races and I know his name he must be pretty good. Hope he recovers.

I've never been skiing before but all these stories make me never want to.

Had a friend shatter their leg last week and a friends sister who was 22 now has learning capability of a 3rd grader after hitting a tree last year.

Hope he turns out alright...

I'm sure he's a speed demon. Probably wasn't wearing a helmet either. The first time I went skiing in the early 2000s, nobody wore a helmet. Now, everyone has one. I actually had a moment one year when I realized I was the only idiot without one all of a sudden.

LINK

He's actually not a huge speed freak. He drives the European equivalent of a Saturn Aura now. Said in an interview I saw a while back that after F1 there's not much point being a speed freak anywhere else. Really great guy. Hope he's alright.

You are probably wrong....

Medical personnel attended to the 44-year-old, who was wearing a helmet,

He was off the marked runs, fell, and hit his head on a rock. His condition got bad fast....the initial report said the injury was not serious. It is now.

Apparently I'm just dead wrong here. Hope the guy makes it.

And where was above poster skiing where people didn't have helmets? I ski in Colorado. Beaver Creek and Steamboat both are full of helmets.

The progression from supposedly mild to serious calls to mind what happened to Natasha Richardson (Liam Neeson's wife) a few years ago. She was skiing (without a helmet) and then fell. Seemed fine but was taken to the hospital a few hours later after having a headache. She died of a epidural hematoma a day or two later.

Hopefully, Schumacher makes a full recovery.

I understood it to nit be serious & never read the article earlier.

Natasha Richardson(?) walk away on her own powers & it didn't initially seem serious when it happened to her. She had no helmet however.

Hope he makes a full recovery, grew up watching him and have always admired what he does in terms of charity, One example, "He donated $10 million for aid after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.[195] His donation surpassed that of any other sports person, most sports leagues, many worldwide corporations and even some countries" from his wiki.

Holy crap. I used to live in Germany and he was my favorite F1 driver. Initial reports said he was hurt but ok but it now appears more serious than reported. This is terrible.

Really hoping he pulls through. Seeing Sebastian Vettel threaten to duplicate the success Schumi had in F1 makes you marvel at how dominant Michael was during his time in the car.

Here's hoping.
