how do you guys feel about duck leases in the marsh? i have the feeling that no matter where in the state the lease is, your blinds would be pretty hit or miss, as the birds seem to move around a lot in my experience. i would hate to be tied down to a relatively small area but maybe i am missing something. what are you guys' thoughts on this?

frick the marsh, last place I want to get a lease. However some of the best hunting in the state is in the far SW marshes. A big reason I dont like them is the additional cost and maintenance for a boat which is most likely going to have to be a surface drive. That and thats what I have mostly hunted and it is a pain in the arse and tough hunting.

This

I can put up with that bullshite for free on public.

If I'm paying for a blind/lease I want it to at least be easy to hunt. I realize the birds are gonna move, but I want to walk or drive to my blind with no possible scenario where I have to get in the water and push a stuck boat

all I know is my rice fields are 15 minutes from house to blind.

my friends' marsh blind is an hour drive and a 30 minute boat drive.

it's fun to go once in a while, but I wouldn't want to hunt it every day

Yup, the marsh I hunt is public, would never pay to hunt it.

Yup, my buddies place in Klondike is so nice. Park the trucks then its a 300-500 yrd 4wheeler ride to the blind, cant beat it.

IMO, marsh hunting is the best. Depends on how long the boat ride is, costs, etc.

Place i usually hunt is surrounded on 3 sides by rice, southside is marsh. The furthest blind is about 5 minute boat ride using a 20hp motor.

Have also hunted in SW LA marshes, which would be quite expensive and can be long boat rides(10-15 minutes using a 90hp motor), plus you MUST had a dog to retrieve.

I personally am looking for a rice field to hunt in solely based on making it easy hunts. Will to give up on quality birds and limits for easy hunts.
