This man changed the world with his engineering masterpiece, the AK47.
I met him once at the Shot show.
RIP

I am struggling to think of another single person who had more of an influence on conflicts than him.
The Manhattan Project was a team deal. He was a single man.

Incredible list of firearms, but the AK was idiot proof and allowed mud hut goat farmers to repeal the USSR.
Just my opinion though.

I agree. This was never his intention but, his rifle has had the single biggest impact on this world than any other invention, including the Atomic Bomb.

I understand your point but, in the context of weapons and war, his impact is incredible.

Good catch. I stuck an "a" in there inappropriately.

The AK was actually a team project too. Kalashnikov was given the credit mostly as communist propaganda. He had an interesting life, his family was killed and sent to Siberia by the Commies, and then he ended up being the poster boy for the communist party during the cold war. The Gun is a book a lot of you guys would enjoy. Tells the history of kalashnikov and the AK. Most of what is commonly believed now was just Communist propaganda.
