11-5 and a wildcard spot isn't even in the top 20 of worst Saints collapses

No, it's not, but to be happy with it is being a sunshine pumper.

All year we went with the mindset that we were the #2 seed at the worst and would have a home playoff game. Then after a dismal loss against the Rams and a game where we flat out choked against the Panthers, we are a wildcard team unless miracles happen.

Oh, and if we lose to the Bucs and Zona wins, we are out the playoffs

So I'd love to see the sunshine pump after that.

After the disaster of last season and before Brees/Payton showed up i'm cool with whatever happens this season, could be worse.

If anything this season showed that we can still be a contender in the future. I mean who saw us fielding a top 5 defense this year? That's a big thing to not have to severely address in the offseson.

The season started out so promising. I think the biggest blow this season has been the extreme incompetence on the road. To see this team not coming close to competing in games is hard to accept. It hasn't been that way for a while. Perhaps we made up some ground yesterday, but confident about our post season chances I am not.

This is where having a running game would really help.

If this team relies exclusively on the arm of Drew, we're gonna fall short more than not becuase passing can be disrupted with the right payers and conditions.

The running game? not so much. IF we did it, it could be something we could fall back on instead of continueing to force something that isnt working.

we have become far too one-dimensional.

I don't think anybody is ever happy losing, but if you step back and look at the season as a whole I don't think you have to be a "sunshine pumper" to be satisfied with the season, if we do indeed win next week and get in the playoffs.

I think before the season started the majority of people would take 11-5 with a playoff spot.

Sure we've played deplorable on the road over the last few weeks, but there are games left to be played, and as we've seen in years passed, once the playoffs start anything goes.

Let's wait until the entire season is over to evaluate how successful the season was.

Even since 2006 the Saints have always had 7-9 or 8-8 seasons. YALL FORGET. SO we fell off from our 2 seed & bye, let's be happy we are not 3-13.

10-5 or 11-5 should be a 3,4 or 5 seed if is was not for the stupid win your division crap. I mean look at Kansas City. Whoever win the NFC East or North will have a worse record than we do.

Could you imagine, if Payton or Brees got up after yesterdays game and said, "We aren't worried about it. Not sure why all the fans are down, we could still maybe make the playoffs"

Everyone would lose their shite. Champions don't take solace in the "well at least" scenarios.

I couldn't give two shits where this franchise was 20 years ago. The fact of the matter is we have the talent and coaching to win NOW. Accepting mediocrity simply because we were bad over a decade ago is weak.

We aren't the Browns, Jaguars, Cardinals or Falcons. We don't accept wildcard spots as moral victories or a successful season.

We're the mother f*cking New Orleans Saints and as a team, as a franchise and as a city we should accept nothing less than the #1 spot.

ETA:

to be satisfied with the season

We are in a new age of Saints football. Being "satisfied", should not be synonymous with the New Orleans Saints Franchise.

"Satisfied" is the sworn enemy of a champion.

No different than the gobs of LSU fans who are just happy to win 10 games.

Remember the 90's?!?!

So true. When the level of talent and coaching increase, expectations should also increase.
