How Did Jon McClane Survive Die Hard?

Here's something for fans of those honest trailer vids and similar fare.
LINK
So which action hero should've died the most in one movie?
And Crank doesn't count.
Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 1 or 3 has to be up there.

Not really an action hero movie, but 2012 was ridiculous. They should have died about 8 times in that movie. Such BS.

I would love to see one of Bloodsport.

Uh, it says it right in the title. He dies hard.

That movie was 100% realistic. You shut your whore mouth.

What about John Matrix's plane drop in Commando?
I found it acceptable as he did it over the marsh area by the airport.

John McClane has the strongest dorsals ever recorded. That's how he caught that air vent with his finger tips in the elevator shaft while free falling

Walks into an active warzone with aliens eradicating everything within a 5 mile radius because he "has to see this". Turns up fine in the end with no explanation as to how. Awesome.

Or Die Hard 3.
I still don't understand how McClane and Samuel L. Jackson survive falling from the bridge to the deck of that boat. Sure they used the winch to grapple the crane boom on the boat. But as they are shimmying, they are roughly 1/2 way to the crane boom and the truck falls over the bridge.
Then they fall and hit the deck and somehow survive without a broken bone or anything. and they fell on top of a corrugated conex box. No way he survives that.
The rest of the movie is entirely believable.

Ya, I don't understand why movies choose to do stuff like that. I don't think it would lose its effect by having them shimmy down a bit further so the fall isn't so unbelievable. I mean, we get it, it still sucks to fall 15-20 feet (and scary to boot), so no need for Mt. Everest plunges.

Die Hard 1.
Detonating C4 in an office building.
How does he know how long the fuse is before the explosives go off? Wasn't he above the area where the civilians were? What if the bomb went off at that moment, when it passed the area they were keeping the innocent civilians?

One thing I did like about the original Die Hard is how you could see McClane conserving ammo. He wasn't a John Rambo with unlimited ammo.
But yeah, he should have died multiple times

Die Hard 2, when he was in the cockpit and Colonel Stewart and company were throwing grenade after grenade into the cockpit. No way he has enough time to:
1. Watch each grenade land in the cockpit by his feet.
2. Get into the seat.
3. Strap in.
4. Eject.
On top of all that, he survives the blast from the cockpit and then why didn't they shoot his parachute as he was falling down. I realize police were en route, but that seemed like an easy finish.

Never understood how the coyote survived all those explosions and falls of the cliff.
Seriously, Hollywood writers have always had a difficult time portraying injuries properly. Gunshot wounds are my favorite. They're written in as nothing more than a scratch that not only can't slow our hero down but seem to disappear without treatment.

If action movies were realistic they would blow.

Blackhawk Down was pretty badass. So was Saving Private Ryan. It can be done.

Well those were based on real events.
Die Hard is not.

Its all a matter of preference but I believe realism adds and does not diminish an action movie. When you come to realize the protagonist is invincible it takes something away from the movie IMHO.

To an extent I agree. Some people like action heros to be more than human though.
When someone jumps off a 20 story building and lands on their feet, then I start to get annoyed though.
