There is a huge movement among boosters... being powered by current, ex-players and alumni to make a run at The Gus Bus. There was concern early when they decided to back-channel Saban to guage interest. Was he truly the right political fit or not... which is ultimately what made Saban not seriously consider the opportunity.

They feel that Gus might be easier (not my words.... his) and more "moldable" for the requirements needed to run the Texas machine.

He said Shaw has no interest... bad fit anyway and that they have never even considered Harbaugh. He would not "conform".

I wouldn't trust anything that Chris Simms has to say about what's going on in Austin.

I heard any prospective coaching candidate has to get in the ring with Mack for three rounds.

Why would you want winning coaches to "conform" to the Texas way? If they don't want something different, why didn't they just hold on to Mack?

My thoughts as well. It's an example of their arrogance.

Then they do not know Gus Bus. That guy will hate the Longhorn network and be terrible for it.

There is always some friend who knows somebody or who used to be a part of the program, etc.

This is just another rumor.

Was that the plan all along? They dropped an insignificant oilfield or two to pay off Saban's real estate debt (it was really actually a Ponzi scheme Saban was about to get busted over) in exchange for him using his dark powers to aid them in making a run at the Gus Bus?

Is there any depth to which Bevo will not stoop?

IF, this is true, then it just highlights the problems within the texas athletic program...different, rogue factions of boosters, alumni and ex-players trying to run the program, back-channeling, leaks to the media, conflicting information from the university and "sources."

but, it's probably just another rumor imbedded with just the smallest amount of actual truth to make it seem plausible.
