Crimson Tide's "Raid on North Louisiana"

I know Gilbeau isn't the most respected guy around these parts, but i found this an interesting article about Alabama's recruiting success in No. La.... (and i wanted to start my first thread, lol)
Nick Saban's Raid on North Louisiana
Neville Head Coach Mickey McCarty:
West Monroe Head Coach Jerry Arledge on Cameron Robinson:
From the article, I get the sense that the coaches feel that despite the undeniable success of the Bama program, this current Alabama wave in No. La is an aberration, (founded on special circumstances) as opposed to a trend, which would be good news for LSU fans.
Also, interesting quotes on Hootie and Robinson...

“If it was my personal preference, I’d like to see a our kids stay in the state. LSU is a great place,” McCarty said. “But Alabama is just hard to ignore. Sometimes the truth hurts.
West Monroe Head Coach Jerry Arledge on Cameron Robinson:
quote:
“He still talks about LSU,” Arledge said. “I think there’s still a possibility he could go to LSU. His name is not on that dotted line yet.”

Robinson gone
If anyone, Hootie could potentially switch back. But I still don't really see that either

While I appreciate the article let me be the first to say posting anything by guilbeau is blasphemy around here to some posters.

Agree 100%. There will always be those outliers that want to leave the state and correspondingly, they flock to the "hot" team at the moment. Currently, that team so happens to be a team in our division.
When Bama goes on the decline again (because they most certainly will not sustain their current level of success forever), these kids will start picking the next "hot" program. Meanwhile, LSU will always be around.

LSU has some work to do in North Louisiana.
First step is to recognize there is a problem. Second step is to take measures to correct the problem.
Bringing in Brick Haley starts the process. There are significant Bama ties that have been allowed to grow unfettered. Their influence is having an effect. We need to check that influence and counter it.

Send Frank Wilson up North once we close the Deals in NOLA.
Stud just did not get it done.

This year MAY be an aberration. But LSU dismisses it as just that at their own peril. Gilbeau may see it one way, but LSU has already taken steps to correct the trend up there, so I don't think they are being dismissive of it at all. Geaux Frank!

I love that LSU sees the problem and is trying to counter it. After seeing Jamal's cover skills and hard hitting, I want him well over Hootie, but Cam is an incredible OT and could push to start at one of the tackle spot next year.

The only question is if he signs it Cameron Robinson or Mr. Roll Tide

Cam's gone. His mom posted it was official on Facebook with pics of Cam in front of his locker with his jersey.
No, really, don't. Brick's doing a great job. If he would've been up here the entire time I think LSU gets at least one of the 2, if not both.

Did you find this in a fortune cookie?
What is the problem?
Not getting every high profile kid within a state is not a problem. If Alabama has a couple of losses every year for the next 4 years, Gumps will blame Saban for not focusing on Bama players and wasting schollys on non-Bama players.
Hope we have success on the field with the players that have committed to the program - from LA and those that are from other states and counties. Hope our evaluation of other players is stellar.

I don't care about Hootie or CRob anymore
They turned their back at us, and the way it's looking right now, we'll be fine with Jamal.

I think "Guilbeau article" should be an option under the RA tab.

I think we flip one of the bama recruits.
Once the train gets rolling and the la kids staying in state...might be to hard to ignore.
But we absolutely have to crush Iowa in the bowl game.

Another north louisiana loss. The Wilson kid from Woodlawn in Shreveport announced he will sign with La Tech.
