Or does Alabama win that game anyway?

Obviously, a question couldn't be more Germans or irrelevant.

Just curious as to what folks think considering the events of last week.

Hahaha no. Bama would've dominated anyway, at least that's what I think.

Possible that Texas wins that game... McCoy was playing well before he was hurt.......

He was in the game for all of four plays. And plus Texas had just stopped a fake punt deep in Alabama territory. Momentum had a little bit to do with that fast start.

Bama would have won and did win and sent the Texas program into a five year downward spiral.

Not only did Saban beat Mack on the field he put a beat down mentally on Mack that he still hasn't recovered from.

Remember the whole Texas needs to be more like Bama and play pro style running football phase Mack went through. (Even though they didn't have the players to run this style)

That was because Saban got in his head and shook it all up and he has been a much worse coach in the years since.

It obviously would've been better but I still think Bama would have won

Was Texas early leaked information from hiring Saban? Both questions have the same answer, Roll Tide!

Bama was a lot bigger and stronger than Texas. That '09 team was good but not nearly as strong as some of the previous Texas teams, just luckier. I think even with McCoy Bama wins that game 8 or 9 times out of 10.

Would it have been a better game? Yes. Would Texas have won? It's possible but I have my doubts.

A similar question may be "Was Miles a QB away from beating Saban in the BCSCG"?

That was a killer for Texas in that game. Neither team hit 280 yards of total offense for the game and Texas ended up with more yards. I think Texas had 5 turnovers with four of them being picks. So since McCoy didn't turn the ball over much and was really good running and passing, it would have been a huge difference. They were up when he went out.

Whether they would have won...who knows? Bama still ran for 200+ and that's big. Texas' pass rush was awesome though. They were sacking McElroy left and right. Bama only ended up with 58 passing yards I think.

No doubt he was. The freshman almost won that game after having done nothing all year. Texas was better than that bama team.

Jordan Shipley almost won that game for Texas. Not Garrett Gilbert. Both of his touchdown passes were to a wide open Shipley who got open by making some incredible moves on our corners.

We were also very one dimensional in that game because McElroy couldn't really throw due to his injured ribs.
