We all know how easy it is to shine deer at night but I'm talking day time land jumping.
Do you wear orange to keep from getting shot and risk being spotted or do you go completely camo and stealth mode?

See that's my thinking. I do recon on an area first and know all the stand locations.

Several, and I say several lightly, members of our club are connected with the law, and are part of them currently. I hunt around a shite ton of cops. The high sheriff has his tract of land about a mile from ours.

A good poacher is also a good shot. Can't shoot twice or you risk bein pin pointed. Shoot once, hide your kill, and stay off roads and plots.
If you are ever riding down the road and see an item that just looks a bit out of place like an old hat, glove, water bottle you might have found the poachers pick up spot.

A good poacher would know the law hunts there and would prefer to stay on land that is owned by an out of Towner that comes on the weekends and holidays.

Listen to how many bikes go in in the morning. Around 9:30 count them as they come out. Now you have the whole place to yourself for a mid day hunt

I know someone whose family owned about 600 acres in Harrison County, Texas. It was bought years ago as a land investment and no one ever went out there. A family member who had an interest an hunting went to check the place out and a hunting club had posted "no trespassing" signs all over the place and had fancy deer stands all over the property.
I heard back that the end result was happy to everyone - they signed a hunter-friendly lease with the hunting club and the relative who hunted was given a free membership.
(Over the years, the club had apparently prevented a few people from squatting with trailers on the property)

If you think u have a poacher problem you have to start paying attention.
That leaf stuck in the hasp on your gate didn't float down and land there.
The combo lock on your gate has the combo on it while you're hunting because you're too lazy to roll the numbers. You make sure to roll them when you lock it back but it's too late. I have your combination

wait until they pack the lock to your gate with sand and then super glue the lock

Yeah, if your land is boat accessible, chances are people are poaching and you never know it.

No orange. Never park truck somewhere you aren't supposed to be. Walk 3 miles if you have to, but don't park on the place you are day-sneaking.
If you are hunting on a long straight of a public road, make sure you don't shoot a buck in the neck and drop him in the road right before a car passes. Make sure he runs off the road at least.
Always assume a truck coming down the road is green jeans and not your paw coming to pick you up.
Best method is buddy system. Have someone drop you off. Set a specific time to get picked up, no matter if you shoot or not. An alternate time should also be selected should hunter get in a situation that prevents him from returning to pickup point at first time.

Ok man, you're bringing back teenage memories.
Add to that. If you see a truck driving down the road with a turn signal flashing in the vicinity of a nighttime gunshot, bet your bottom dollar that dude is out to pick up his buddy who nailed and field dressed a deer.
Mr. Green Jeans/LEO, don't waste your time pulling him over. He already took all the rifles somewhere else. Won't be nothing on that truck and he'll play dumber than frick.

I normally mind land lines, but we had a neighbor once with no such inhibitions. So...I decimated his shite over the course of a year or two. Deer, rabbits, squirrels. I turnt his shite into a wasteland. And a few other things. That's how I deal with trespassers.
