folks are pissed

I expect full blown riots today in the rain and all

LINK

when I saw this on the news last night, the comments they quoted from their FB page was outrageous. They were the aww, poor deer sob stories. I looked at my gf and said who gives a frick, someone has meat in their freezer now. She said I agree

and yes, i'm 27 and watch the local news

and a gem comment that makes Alabama look so awesome or he's a good troll

quote:

Them deer probably ate somebody's prized petunias or dropped a pile on their lawn. Sad

Kinda dick move to shoot someone's pet animals.

Plenty of wild deer to shoot if you need some meat.

Isn't having pet deer illegal anyway though?

In the article

quote:

"We know that a law was broken because the deer were brought here

so I answered my own question

quote:

The Game Warden's office tells News 5 it is against state law for anyone to own a wild animal

I see nothing wrong here. I don't watch the sports because it's just an abortion of a highlight segment but I'll see what kind of craziness is going on in the Jackson metro area occasionally.

There's a "pet" deer on one of the places I farm. Just waiting to hear about it dying. It's a doe btw. Somebody put a damn necklace on it.

I'm not really sure what these deer would eat on that island without people feeding them, especially in the winter. it's pretty damn small and full of sand.

so you're going to be that guy.

Go ahead and tell us what other things we shouldn't be doing because they are illegal too.

I think its illegal to have any wild native animal as a pet. Might be limited to game animals though.

when I was a tike my father raised two deer. Robby and Bucky (sister named them) for many years

Eventually we had to give them away and the unfortunate recipient got drilled in his waist region and the horns opened his ball sack. Don't frick with a 10 point in the rut

Out of curiosity, I'm assuming there is at least 1 high fence lease or ranch in AL? Could be wrong, but it seems as though having deer in a high fence could be "owning" a wild animal. Would be curious to see the interpretation then.

If you're talking about on this island, no. But I know of at least one and he is a highly paid pitcher in the MLB and he almost has his place done. I saw parts of it in this summer.

fricking bowling alley, concert venue, place enough to sleep 40. he wants to build a place on a lake but it might be dried out by the time it's finished. Lots of deer and gators in that area

No, not specifically on the island. Unless the law only states you can't own a wild animal only on the island. Just curious what the interpretation of the law would be with a high fence property.

There's probably some arbitrary square acreage what distinguishes a "pen" from a high fenced property.

I spent thirty minutes sneaking up on a deer years back. Thought I was Daniel Boone, soooo quiet, so crafty. Got within bow range and finally saw a ribbon tied around its neck. Dang thing probably saw me thirty minutes ago...no I didnt shoot it.

The guy that shot it might be the same one that shot an eagle on the island 3 or so years ago.
