I just don't see a guy of his caliber staying an OC in college for long. he could probably have a HC job in college or an NFL OC job if he wanted it.

If he gets the same results next year then he would get another offer

LSU gave him the escalator pay scale to try to keep him around. Plus, he can coach for Miles until the day Les retires. He won't find that type of job security any where else.

More worried about Chevis, since he is only coach on planet to stop A&M and Auburn attacks.

Idt he will go be a head coach. He will make head coach money here and I think he stays because of his family.

That said, who knows.

Of course there's a chance, but if there were a place where he'd like to stay as a coordinator, be well paid, and have a few years of stability with a supportive group of coaches around him that seems to be what they've done for him at LSU.

His history with Miles (and the fact he turned down offers in the NFL) is what makes me hopeful that he may want to stay at LSU for a pretty decent stay. Could that change if he were offered an even larger sum to be head coach at a real school in a major conference? I think it could but I think the opportunity would have to be special for him to leave a good situation.

there's never been anything official I've ever seen to that effect and prior to Cameron's arrival Frank Wilson was being discussed for that same title. This link may also interest you:

I love Cameron at LSU and hope he wants to stay because he is being well compensated (esp for an assistant) and in a very good situation but there is some cause to think he may move on after a while if the right position were to open up. But he can frankly be pretty choosey. He should think like an Ed Orgeron and consider an assistant position at a very good school a potentially better position than a head coaching position at a school with limited potential.

Quotes from the linked article by Les:

quote:

"He's somebody that is committed to, in my mind, making LSU the best they can be," Miles said. "His short-term goals are to win and win very big."

While Miles was positive about Cameron's commitment to the Tigers for this season, he acknowledged his good friend will have other opportunities presented to him down the road.

"I think he'd be a great head coach in the college game or for that matter the pro game," Miles said. "Again, right now he's in college. I think he sees his opportunities in college, and I think he'll have them."

Who on earth would hire Cam Cameron as HC? He failed miserably at Indiana and never won a game in the NFL.

he'll get some attention if he help LSU produce another QB like Mett. He's a great QB coach and appears to be an excellent coordinator. When you're successful as a coordinator at a big time school like LSU, you're gonna get a shot.

I think he'd have to think long and hard about how long he wants to coach. If he wants to coach another 8-10 years, the stability at LSU will be hard to beat. If he only wants to coach another 3, he could take a HC job and not worry about getting fired. He'd likely just retire at that point any way.

Will never be a NFL HC again. Could get a college job in 2-3 years.
