1) if Alabama wins the Iron Bowl and BAMA wins the SECCG then what happens? Saban wouldnt think about Texas with another BCSNCG ahead of him so does Texas keep Mack Brown?

2) if this "deal was done" weeks ago, what would have happened if Texas beat Baylor and won the Big12? Does Mack keep his job?

3) would the "Big Oil" money at Texas have taken care of the Saban financial problems without knowing when the time frame of Saban coming to Texas would develop?

4) if Brown is out, Saban turns them down, then what direction does Texas turn? An NFL HC is going to require them waiting into late December (if he isnt in the playoffs - like Tomlin). A NFL HC in the playoffs (Harbaugh brothers) will require them to wait into January.

Why does everyone think that UT is always "Big Oil" money? People do realize that there are "Big Oil" in LA/Alabama as well right?

if it was done weeks ago, it would have come to fruition once Bama's regular season ended (after the Iron Bowl)...REGARDLESS of what happened at the time with UTx and their remaining game.

Also I have doubt about the "note" to buy Sabans debt. If Saban allowed that to happen, he will not have complete control over the UTx program nor his own life. It will belong to those who are holders of the note.

Nah. He's really underperformed since that fateful january day in 2010. I think they have the 4th best record in Texas since that day. Their pride is wounded, its time for him to go.

If I was them, I'd really be talking to David Shaw, Charlie Strong, Mark Dantonio. These dreams about Gus Malzahn or Jimbo Fisher and even Urban Meyer are never going to happen.

They've "heard things" or they get confused and think the PUF can be used for things like this.

The developments in the Eagle Ford Shale and Permian Basin have made some already wealthy people crazy wealthy

yeah but how many of them are directly connected to BAMA? At Texas there are dozens of them

Because it furthers the agenda. I love chicken, and don't get me wrong, but half the reason he is allowing this fiasco to go unchecked is site hits. Pure and simple. There is exactly the same amount of confirmed and substantiated info that says he is staying as there is that says he gone. Zero.

Because they believe the Ewings from the TV sitcom Dallas are real peoples.

Sexton would still pimp Saban to Texas but it would be more long and drawn out with Saban preparing for the NCG

I don't think so but they may have delayed his exit.

No way they keep Mack if a deal was done with Saban

did this really happen? Is this really a thing? I have no idea.

exactly. just off the coast there are oil rigs everywhere. there's also natural gas and coal in Bama, too.

there's going to be a certain threshold out there that even the richest person or people would look at something and realize it's not worth that much. Is winning a natty and having bragging rights for a short time worth 100 or 150 million dollars?

Sure, what Bama has been paying for Saban up till now has been worth it since it helped Bama grow the school, but from what I understand TX doesn't need any help in that department...?

It is on a completely different scale (even with all of the new Haynesville Shale money). Texas just has a lot more money and a lot more people with a lot of money.

Size wise, no. Limited by the state, taking only top 7% (I think that's the latest number I saw) of students now.

"Prestige"/rankings, nah. They are one of the top ranked public schools in the country.

A good football team does draw more donations to the public size, see Ohio State. That is one place winning could help them.

Headed to a national championship game. I find it hard to believe that he would drop that to go to Texas. Chances might be a little bit better after the game but from over here I just don't see that happening.

well yeah, his agent can work out the details, Gus would just have to tell his agent he would listen and consider offers. Finalize something after the game if the Saban stuff falls through.

All very valid questions.

I think Texas boosters have been pursuing Nick for over a year. Replaced the AD to make it easier to get rid of Brown.

When UT lost early games the same vultures turned up the pressure on Sexton/Saban because they could see the end was near for Mack.

Mack rebounded and firing became out of the question. Boosters now putting the pressure on Mack to resign because of interest from Saban/Sexton.

Sexton working both sides to play each other. Gets UT boosters to buy Saban's debt but they have not authority to offer saban job at UT.

Sexton telling Bama, UT will pay Nick 10mil per year, but Bama does not have to match to keep him but it needs to be close.

Saban makes a good financial decision. Gets rid of liability to willing participants who are capable of holding the investment for an extended period of time.

Saban gets a huge raise from Bama, retires in 5 years. Sexton makes bank, but negotiates raises for AlL of his coaches prior before "the dominoes start falling". At the end of the day nothing changes, but all of Sexton's coaches get more money.
