Looking for a craft cocktail spot before we have dinner at 8, preferably in the CBD or Warehouse district. What you got?

Tommy's wine bar, but that might be better for after dinner.

He can afford a gin fizz from Bellocq if he's going to Peche

No doubt. Plenty of people can afford it. Doesn't mean it's a good value.

Capdeville and Rusty Nail are both good choices.

So I can get proper drink there and not what seems to be an endless variety of "punches"?

What do you want to drink?

if you are shooting for a $11 craft cocktail like a Ramos Gin Fizz or French 75, then sure goto Bellocq.

But if you want to get a good beer or mix you will be fine going to Capdeville or the Rusty Nail. I would honestly prefer Capedeville. Business casual, no rift raft. Decent happy hour prices and good atmosphere. Probably closer to you and Peche also.

Prior to dinner I would prefer liquor. The wife likes it a little fruity so I was pushing for a joint that I could get me a martini or a scotch and her some fruit filled nonsense.

I still say Bellocq. She can get a cobbler. Plenty fruity.

I was gonna do a blazer and jeans. I always feel over dressed in Link's places and Peche looks pretty casual.

Yeah, it's casual but not like ballcap casual. Rusty nail is where I go to watch football games, trivia, dance to a band, etc.. Not get a pre-dinner cocktail. Bellocq fits that much better, imho.
