Or the chance to buy an invite

I'm sure all the conferences do it. Being on a bowl committee is probably kickback central.

How does the 10th ranked RPI conference manage to get 7 of its 8 members "bowl eligible"?

the whole bowl thing is just terrible. I guess maybe the players enjoy it? dont know, but it certainly isnt entertaining to the fans.

it would have been good for our young program to make it to a bowl.

but I think any South Alabama fan would tell you that this year's improvement trumps going to the New Mexico Bowl or where ever they would have sent our squad.

we beat a few teams that made it to a bowl this year. I'm not sure we would have thought that would happen before the season started.

Yeah because watching meaningless football games where the players are only half trying is enjoyable? pls go

No one is ever going to care who won the Capital One Bowl or the Kraft Hunger Bowl etc etc

It's nice to see teams play opponents they don't normally play.

That's what I have said about these bowls like The New Orleans Bowl. No one will make me believe some kids from California who come to New Orleans for the first time are focused on the game.

If it were not for gambling there might be 6 or 7 bowl games.

You are aware of who is playing in the New Orleans Bowl, right?

He's only saying that because he refuses to admit that our bowl wins were legitimate. He's a little upset because his ironclad source told him Blaine Gautier was going to be arrested and instead, was the NOLA Bowl MVP.

It would be much nicer, if this happened during the regular season, when it actually meant something.

But, no, we'd rather have out-dated conferences and play the same mundane schedules year-in and year-out.

Get your popcorn ready for Miss St vs LSU 2014 - I know I cant wait.

For a sports message board, we sure do have a lot of people who hate watching sports. I watch a ton of bowl games, especially if there's not a good NBA game on. I don't give a shite who the teams are, some of those games get pretty wild. Some do suck though, but it doesn't bother me.

I agree with this. But the bowl season is a nice way to end the year in a relaxing and fun way. Only the big games really matter

I agree with you , bowl season is awesome..... I wish more bowls would take a smaller school vs a big conference one, people love an underdog

Some bowls are. Majority are opportunities to make money. A .500 season is not a successful season.

For some of these low level bowls, the other conferences probably don't mind being "screwed over".

It's a money loser for them so if the Sun Belt wants to buy a slot, more power to them.

Looks like they failed, though.
