for high profile jobs? Fairly young, and has really been remarkable at OSU which has always been a second tier school in a state you have to leave to recruit.

I think he's made it clear he doesn't want to leave. Like he may have graduated from there. A couple of years ago, Gundy was angling for a raise and his agent said he had no plans to leave and Okie State was kind of being cheapskates, even though T. Boone Pickens probably had the money to cover the raise between his sofa cushions.

He was practically begging for a new job last year. Flirted with Arkansas and Tennessee.

There aren't that many jobs better than Okla State.
Gundy seems like a dick.

Because the last time OSU had a coach primed for a big job, LSU ended up with Grimace.

He's an OSU alum, I doubt he would leave.

Pretty sure we went after him before hiring Sumlin and he reupped his contract. He's an OSU alum but I think he's clashed with administration or boosters (ie Boone) at times

OSU has never shaken the OU shadow, but as long as the university doesn't care, why should he? And exactly what bigger coaching job would he project to? I don't see him going any higher, and besides, his team always seems to choke when it counts the most...

I'd heard last year when we were talking to him that he and Pickens hate each other. Take it FWIW and with a grain of salt, but the word was that there was a bit of a Jerry Jones/Jimmy Johnson complex there in that there's sort of an argument for who is more instrumental in OSU's upswing -- Gundy's coaching or T. Boone's money. Same thing was happening at Oregon between Uncle Phil and Chip Kelly.

Who knows, but it would explain him flirting with several other jobs last year.
