Calling all NBA 2k14ers

First year I've played the 2k basketball series so it's taken some time to get used to it but after initially getting destroyed at first online I'm starting to get the hang of it
However, one of the most frustrating things for me is how many easy put backs and lay ups I miss. It doesn't seem like my opponents struggle with it nearly as much as I do. Does anyone have any tips or have this happen?

I hate how you can barely play man to man defense. The offensive controls are so fluid, but when you are trying to lock down on your guy while playing defense, it feels like you are trying to side step through a swamp or something. Aside from that, I do notice the same things you mention about missing layups. It seems like they just want people to do nothing but shoot 3's with superstars. It gets pretty frustrating trying to play this game online, but you can't get any better by not playing it.

Playing one on one defense is a constant game of catch-up. On the bright side, you can get a lot of blocks from behind as they blow past you to the goal.

The Carmelo mid-range jumper is the toughest thing to defend in the game IMO.

I don't have much trouble with layups. You must be using someone with low layup rating.

I haven't even tried online yet.
MyCareer is sweet but damn I wish you could simulate some games, nobody wants to play a full NBA season.

Yea myplayer games get repetitious, especially when they say the same shite every game about you. Idk I was expecting more for the myplayer mode. Maybe this game will get better and better in the future, at least online play and clean the glitches up..

I heard that once you finish the first season in My Player, you could simulate to the key games. Is that not true?

I play for the hornets, I have to score 20-25 points a game for us to win

Y'all got it easy. I got drafted by the fricking Bucks 
I replaced OJ Mayo as the starter, and he tried to come back and say that we had the potential to be great like Jordan/Pippen, or Malone/Stockton. Then he said in order for us to become one of the greats, I needed to be a great sidekick. I told him to frick off and i've been demanding a trade ever since. Looks like the leading suitor to trade for me is the Atlanta Hawks

Twolves just beat the brakes off the pels. I was into the game going into half down by 1. Came out in the 3rd to take the lead. They took me out a few min and the wolves were up by 20

Man oh man.. I finally had my trade request fulfilled after OJ Mayo wanted me to play Robin to his Batman even though I was clearly the superior player. I told them to trade him, which they didn't so I demanded a trade because i'm not playing second fiddle to anyone. The leading team by a LARGE margin was the Atlanta Hawks (only team in green) and they were the only team I selected when the GM asked me what team I would like to be traded to. So Naturally, guess where I get traded to? fricking Dallas
I am still trying to figure out what exactly they gave up to get me because they still had literally everyone on the roster including me. So maybe they gave up a 1st round pick or something for me.
