One happened tonight. So, I'm at an upscale gastropub in Charleston munching on some potato croquettes and tipping a few pints back while debating on what to order. The couple next to me (either Upstate South Carolina or North Carolina tourists judging from their appearance and accent) order a half a dozen oysters on the half shell and (from what I can tell tuna tartare). The man takes a bite of the tuna tartare and is in obvious disgust. As the woman slurps back an oyster, the chef walks in to the bar area to check on how things are going. The woman looks to her boy friend/husband and says, "Gimmie summa that der beer to warshe this awe-full taste outta mouth." The chef was perplexed. The oysters looked great. Great size, color and very fresh. He was obviously embarrassed, but not as much as the people were around him. Everyone was telling the staff after the couple left howich they enjoyed their food and whatnot. Have you ever been in a familiar or uncomfortable situation due to other patrons?

Any dining out experience with the inlaws or my mother. Rude and tip horribly.

Did have my mother's long term BF have a discussion with me, at Stroubes, about why downtown BR went to shite. Used several racial slurs that were no doubt heard by at least one other table. Hence why we have never brought them to somewhere like that again.

One time I took this girl out to a really nice place in Kenner, Applebees or something, and got a table with some captain's chairs.

I was putting the moves on her with my cunning whit, and getting ready to bring her back to my place. I put both hands on the arms of the chair to adjust my pants because I was catching some wood. When I lifted myself up, I blasted the biggest fart of my life. Three tables stopped talking to look and see if I was o.k.

Her face turned red. I dropped a $20 bill on the table and ran to my car. Never saw her again.

I was at Bozo's, a couple months after the oil spill. My cousin was in town, and she's a big time premadonna attention whore. She claimed that our oysters had oil on them and that they didn't smell right. So our server politely disposed of them. I was mortified. I was even more mortified when the manager came and apologized and let her know that the oysters were all safe, clean, and fresh, leading her to order a new dozen, which the manager comped for us.

I think I would have died laughing at them while pointing a finger in their direction.

Having lived and worked with upstaters for three years I would not imagine their knowledge of seafood was all that great. The redneck per square mile density is way off the map, 300K house with a rundown as frick trailer for a neighbors dwelling.

Me and the GF were having a nice dinner at Ruffino's. I had a mouthful of red wine and had to sneeze instantly, didn't have time to swallow. I sneezed red wine all over my gf and the white tablecloth. The only person who saw was this guy at the next table over, he started cracking up and his wife couldnt figure out why he was laughing so hard. Me and my gf laughed it off but i was embarassed when the waitress walked up and looked confused as to why there was wine all over the table.

Best view of the state I saw was in the mirror of the moving van at the Asheville area while going west on 40.

that's no upstate accent.

this seems unnecessary. wouldn't a chef be the first to know that everybody won't like what they cook? and besides, it was the couple's fault for ordering the oysters and tuna because from what it sounds like, they have no taste for seafood.

It's definitely not La, and too many yankees, but it has its moments.
