2009 Jefferson: 182/296, 2166 yds, 17 TDs, 7 INTs
2013 Mettenberger: 192/296, 3082 yds, 22 TDs, 8 INTs

Amazing that with only 10 more completions he bagged 915 more yards and 5 more TDs.

We've come a long way from 2009

His yards per completion (16.05) are sick--and would lead the nearest NFL team by 2.7 yds.

ETA: Take out the sacks, and JJ wasn't bad at all for a first year starter.

Sad thing is, JJ regressed at times and never got any better. Could be the lack of a good qb coach, idk.

I posted it in another thread but he is third in the country at over 10 yards per attempt. Only behind Petty and Winston.

JJ didn't have 2 stud receivers to throw to or a strong running game to lean on that year. Plus Crowton was his OC

Especially Crowton. Wasn't that guy just let go by a CFL team or something?

Brandon Lafell
Reuben Randall
Terrance Tolliver

2 of the 3 are NFL starters and making a huge impact for their teams

But screw Corwton

Add Richard Dickson at TE. And we had Scott, KW and Ridley at RB. What else can you ask for on offense. But still the O-line and the rushing game was a big letdown. Probably the only year in recent memory that Rush yards allowed > Rush yards by LSU.

Damn Crowton.

How many sacks did each take in same years? I recall wanting to kick a hole in the wall every third time JJ dropped back in 2009.

Two of those were the #1 WR recruit in the nation. The other has had the most productive NFL career of any LSU receiver not named Bowe the last decade.

Yes, JJ had plenty of talent around him.

The OL was pitiful in 2009. Still surprised that JJ threw that much in 2009.

Terrance Toliver
Brandon LaFell
Ruben Randle

Dickson

Charles Scott
Keiland Williams
Russell Shepard
Stevan Ridley

Holliday

I would say JJ had all the support he needed.
Running game was a disappointment though.
