How do yall feel about deer hunting in the rain?
Looks like we may get wet this weeked, any advice?
I've always felt its probably better to stalk a bit in the rain because the deer probably arent moving and its harder for them to hear and see ya.

not a fan of in the rain, because i bowhunt only, and rain screws up my blood trail. I do, however, love to hunt after a long hard rain, b/c i figure they want to move around more.

Last week when the front came through (Monday and Tuesday rained all day) deer were moving and were very frisky. Saw more in 3 hunts than I have the past 2 years. That was the first time I truly hunted the rain because of new box stand.
Now it was a constant drizzle not a heavy down pour with thunder and lightning.
I'm sold on it.

Deer don't like to move when it is raining hard because they cannot smell or hear. I have always felt that if a deer doesn't have full use of at least two of the three major senses, hearing, seeing, smelling, they won't move. I am an old man and this has always held true for me so I am speaking from experience. Just when it stops raining is when you will see movement like crazy as they deer can once again hear. If it is a very light rain they will still move.

I like it, but blood trailing is a bitch so you better drop them.

A drizzle is okay, but I have been out in medium to heavy rain a few times in good areas, and haven't ever seen a damn thing

Depends on who you ask whether deer love or hate a light rain, but everyone agrees it makes them move.

Deer usually move more just before a big rain. If you see ths cows up grazing, the deer usually are too. They can feel the barometric pressure dropping and will fill their bellies before laying up. Thats not to say deer NEVER move in a hard rain, but not often. A light rain is fine

IMO:
Still hunting while the rain is falling is probably the best way to go if you don't mind getting wet, just make sure you take your time. Walk a hundred yards or so and sit and watch for ten or fifteen minutes. This is a great way to get in the action.
As soon as the rain stops, or before the rain starts, go to the food source, whether it be food plots or acorns or whatever because they will be there, especially after an all day rain.

I love to hunt (from the comfort of a box stand w/ a GOOD roof ) in a drizzle or before/after a harder rain. I think that any weather conditions that upset a deer's senses (hard rain, hard wind, fog, etc.) is bad for deer movement.

If it slightly raining, I love to stalk hunt and jump the deer with a shotgun. only got one spike doing this but it's pretty fun

Hunting with a gun in a box stand during the rain is fine by me. I've seen plenty of deer right after a heavy rain, and enjoy it. However, hunting with a bow in a lock on is not my optimal choice. I'd hate the idea of losing a blood trail in the rain and getting soaked to the bone sucks.
