This video pretty much shows why I'm holding off with the next-gen

Seriously, why are we as a consumer letting the gaming corporations walk all over us with the shitty half assed products. I just want a box that plays games, not all this media tv shite. Companies need to get their shite together or they may end up like SEGA or Atari

The new generation consoles don't?

I think these are HUGE improvements.

Every new piece of hardware will have a certain percentage of them that have issues. It has ALWAYS been that way. The difference is now the few people that have issues can have the whole world hear about it via the internet.
Now as far as PSN goes... there is no excuse.
I have not seen the first hiccup on X Box Live. I even downloaded the day one update in about 3 minutes on launch day.

I had that same notion when all this stuff was first announced, but the idea of being able to watch TV while you play is pretty fricking awesome.
Especially on a day like today where you could just throw Redzone up and game all day.

I don't know what people expect, 0% defective units sold?
I haven't seen anywhere where Sony/Microsoft is having an issue with handling defective consoles. If the individual doesn't want to return it, that's on him, not the corporations.

That guy made some interesting points but he went about it the wrong way. He says "back in the day things were perfect before they launched."
Oh yeah like the Ford Pinto or the space shuttle Challenger. Just perfect.

Yea that video was full of ignorance

Some guy getting on a soap box about not accepting mediocrity. I'm sorry I watched it.

I bought the xbox one because of the media stuff. Still haven't bought a game for the console yet, but I'm using it all the time.

He has a small point that fanboys are going to fanboy even sometimes to their own detriment, but these types of problems to an extent should be expected.

Yeah, but at the same time he is so anti fanboy that he has the same blinders on and is unable to see many glaring problems with his own rant

If that guy thinks Sony and Microsoft suck so much why doesn't he create and launch his own next gen system? Seems like he's got his shite together.

I'll admit, I'm a Microsoft fanboy, but that doesn't stop me from seeing their issues. Example, their customer service for most products is garbage. They fricked up my Surface Pro 2 preorder and couldn't resolve it so I went with Best Buy instead.
Also I'm able to admit that the PS3.5 (couldn't help that one...) is a solid console, just not my preference.

Considering I've yet to see a flawless launch of any video game console, I'm not sure how this a new thing.

Could be misremembering, but I thought the N64 was pretty flawless?
Not saying that Sony and Microsoft screwed the pooch, I expected a small number of problem consoles.

N64 launched with only two games. Super Mario 64 is fantastic, but that's still only two games for people to buy!
The cartridges would often have problems being read properly, requiring people to blow in them to work. It's not gigantic problems, but definitely not flawless.

True. But Super Mario 64 did tide me over long enough to get the ball rolling.
ETA: Yeah, I could see how this is comparable to today's issues. Not a huge deal, but will be blown out of proportion.

This doesn't count! I still have to do that with mine, but they still work!

Both me and my cousin had to return our first N64 consoles b/c the pins that read the cartridges broke within the first few days.
