yeah...max protect for the kicker jumped up and bit them in the arse. you would think after what we did to UAB that someone on the bama staff would have, at least, warned them to be ready for that eventuality. 57yd attempt with a shaky kicker with about a 10% chance of even kicking it deep enough....wow. I'd enjoy it more if I didn't hate both equally. oh well.

hey, but Lord Saban said he makes 60 yarders all the time in....wait for it....PRACTICE!!!
So many failed coaching decisions yesterday by Saban. He'll skate, throw his players under the bus, and move on.

That's part of their job. The other part is to have awareness that there may be a return, and be able to stop it. There are plenty of athletes who can block, run and tackle. They are on the field for punt formations.

Something will have to be done when kicking 50plus FG's with a returner under the GP. those guy's looked like they had lead shoes on. Use a speedster as the holder? Any ideas?

That's why you have special teams players. There are lots of guys recruited for a position that find a home on special teams. They are good athletes - they can block, run, and tackle. You don't put 9 lineman, a qb holder, and a kicker out there.
