What company would you recommend? Would like reputable, easy to deal with people.

Husband is self employed and due to an error on our part his policy didnt' get paid ... we contacted Farm Bureau as soon as we realized what happened and it's been 2 months since they've done shite ... I'm tired of contacting them and husband still has no coverage. Sad part is the agent we work with is our neighbor (became neighbors AFTER we'd been with him for a while so it's not like we picked him for that reason).

Never had an issue with Farm Bureau before but we need coverage and my patience is gone.

We ignored the bill as we thought it was something we had paid. The amount was the EXACT same as our HO policy except the .xx was different ... we thought it was a duplicate bill. For some reason, Farm Bureau doesn't label their bills with "disability" or "produce" or "life" or "auto" if it's not a monthly draft statement.

SO as soon as we realized (when we got the cancellation notice) I called and we figured out what happened. I swear that was late August/early September. This sucks. They better reinstate it as WE contacted them and asked what we needed to do ... the agent is going through a divorce and now his dad had a stroke and as much as I like him, those aren't my problems and he needs to continue to provide customer service.

Yeah, I'm not real happy.

We use Ameritas Life for DI. I liked the future increase rider they offered. It is perfect for my wife.

Basically what does your husband do? Different companies are better depending whether it is white collar or blue collar coverage. Also whether his profession allows for alternate means of income if he suffers a partial disability, etc.

He's a rice/soybean/crawfish farmer (yeah, save me the crap please). And I'd love to pull the policies we have (we seriously have like 15 between personal and business) BUT the 1 freaking policy that we need for the business is NOT offered anywhere else that we've have ever found. So that option is a great suggestion but not doable.

Thanks. And technically, if he were ever partially disabled, he does have both a BS and an MS so he could do other work.

A degree doesn't guarantee a job. Plenty of Ph.D.'s out there that aren't earning squat. Not trying to be a dick, just might want to be sure his skills are actually marketable. A degree plus enough years' experience may just translate into "sorry but you're overqualified".

Principal or Illinois mutual have pretty good DI products. Some companies are cater more to white collar vs blue collar or vice versa so just do some research if FB will not reinstate.

What does your husband do?
