Bo Pelini or The Chavis? Who put better defenses out on the field? Anybody care to look some numbers up?

I think Pelini had the more talented defenses, but I think Chavis is the better coordinator.

The chief. Bo had a good 1.5 years then his scheme got solved quickly. This is Chavis' worst year by far and he's still got a Top 25 defense.

As soon as I saw that interview with Bo today, I freaking KNEW someone would start the fire Chief/hire Bo shite.

Lou Tepper was better than both of them.

The Chief. Carried LSU through 3 seasons of the JJ JL show.

Pelini was here 3 years ('05 - '07). Until Meyer/Tebow in '07 and Nutt/McFadden, I think Pelini faced more conventional O's. I don't think Pelini had to face all the high-octane, exotic, HUNH O's that Chief has had to contend with.
Both have their skeletons and blind spots. Pelini seemed to never figure out zone reads, etc. Chief usually struggles to stop teams at the end.
I'm still not over the 4th & 10 vs Arky in '07 but loved Pelini's safety blitz with LaRon - thing of brutal beauty.
