He's getting ready for the Elder Scrolls Online game(whatever the f*** that is). I'm still new the the master race so I'm not exactly sure on the best parts for this budget. What y'all got?

Also, BF4 is another game he plans on playing.

$1k for just the computer, or for the whole build (tower, monitor, kb/m, speakers, etc)?
Does your friend need to buy a copy of the OS or will he obtain one through other means?

Well, now is the time to buy parts. I just dropped some money between Newegg and Amazon to build a new rig. Tell your friend to get on it now.

yeah... that

this weekend is a great time to buy - good prices on SSDs, RAM, and PSUs. Z87 board + i5 4670k + GPU. should have $300 or so to spend on the GPU with that budget.

I don't know what that means.

Eta: no SSDs.

OK, tell your dumbass friend to click here and order these parts:

Or he can pick a different case.

If he doesn't want an SSD, then he can use the $80 to actually purchase Windows like an idiot.

No ssd? What kind of parameter is that? Maybe the master race doesn't want your friend

I kind of made the call on the SSD. I see it as more of a feature than a necessity. I was trying to save him money for more performance parts than saving time in load screens. But then again, I could be just an ignorant bastard.

There is no more effective use of that $80 than to put it toward an SSD.

If he is gaming at 1080p then anything above the 280x that he recommended is not going to be noticed so it would be a better use to get an ssd

Why would anyone want to put an I5 or an I7 in a gaming PC when you can buy a Xeon processor that is cheaper and drops the on board video that you'll never use?

I get that you can't OC it but if this is the first time someone is building their own gaming rig, they probably aren't an OCer.

For $20 more than the i5-4670k you can get this:

Which is 4 core plus hyper threaded. It is essentially a an Ivy Bridge I7. Since LGA 1155 mobo's are a little cheaper you are essentially cost neutral.

If you really want Haswell architecture:

This is basically an I7 4770 without onboard graphics.

Just curious why more people don't do this? Is it just the lack of OCing capability?
