Roux question....is there such a thing as a "gluten free" roux substitute?

In the panhandle with relatives and one is on a "gluten free" diet. I have everything for a nice turkey/andouille gumbo but is there any way to make an acceptable substitute for roux without using flour?

GF flour or almond meal could work. You may have to tweak your normal recipe but I don't see why it couldn't work.
Or Cashew meal. Yesterday one of my dishes had 'cream' in it, which I made by soaking and then blending the Cashews with a little water.

Rice flour instead of regular flour. I bought some last week, but haven't attempted the roux yet. My son's girlfriend would like to be able to make gluten free gumbo. My suggestion was okra gumbo, since you don't need roux, but not everyone likes okra. Anyway, I bought it so I could see how it works.
ETA: I also bought almond flour. Not sure which I will try first.

Thanks. she has a bunch of almond based "flour" and I can try to make a roux with. I didn't want to waste all the other ingredients without seeking advice.

You can use filé powder as a thickener but not everyone likes the flavor.
