Really wanted to see it on the big screen, but finally watched last night. I loved it. Really thought they did a great job of making it it's own movie and story without really changing the traditional one. Can't say one bad thing about it.

Polarizing as hell on this site. Either loved or hated.

How could you hate it? There were times when I was questioning the stray from original, but it always was brought back together.

It falls in line with Superman mythos, despite what people who don't really know a lot about Superman say.

Before the movie came out, everyone wanted a darker Superman. Then they got it and were pissed that it didn't have that old aw shucks gee whiz love murica vibe.

I liked it. Thought the Earth dad plot was weak and thought the ending with ZOD was extremely weak.

I didn't mind the destruction and long fight. Heck, that was far more realistic and closer to what might really happen between beings that strong.

I liked how they waited to the end to start the Clark Kent role at the paper, but don't know how I feel with how L. Lane accepted it like she already knew he was Superman. Anxious to see how the sequel plays out.

People who said this really didn't get the Superman mythos. Dark is what Batman is about, not Superman. You can get a dark Superman, but you can't do it right out of the gates. Superman needs to be mankind's symbol of hope and freedom. Superman is now only mankind's symbol of invasion and destruction really.

Yeah the only complaint I had was that Crowe was used a lot more then Costner was, not that Crowe didn't kick arse but I don't think they did Mr. Kent justice.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

I just didn't buy for a second he would just let his father die. That was plain stupid to think he would just sit there and watch him die and nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise. Just a shitty stupid contrived unbelievable plot flaw.

And after a 4 hour fight smashing each other with buildings, it ends with a quick neck twist. Weak. Big pile of weak.

I definitely thought it was above average. It wasnt the 'greatest' like a lot were proclaiming after viewing, but good.

Isn't superman stronger than any object he could hit him with.

It's still pretty damn anti-climactic.

It was a little anti-climactic but I didn't mind. Better than Supes letting him live.

The best way I have seen Man of Steel summed up (review i read on another site) to explain the love/hate crowd. If you enjoyed Smallville you will love Man of Steel. If you didnt like Smallville and liked the original Superman movies you will hate Man of Steel

Not true. I liked the originals, well except for IV. III wasn't great but Pryor was funny.

Never watched smallville and never had any interest in watching it.

I liked MOS.
