Each week his stock seems to be dropping amongst Pelicans faithful. I have a source from the inside who gave me a good idea of what the Bensons think, but I can't discuss that here.

Anyway, I am going with a 30% chance Monty finishes.

Would be shocked if he was fired. You guys are waaaaay to reactionary per game. It's the NBA, not college football. Teams are going to have their good and bad nights, ESPECIALLY a team with as many new parts as this one.

If true, this news gives me some tentative excitement. IF we have any sort of an upgrade lined up, I would be ecstatic.

Those are huge if's. I still think that the FO will give Monty too much leeway = 60% chance he finishes the season as our coach.

That being said, come home, George.

60%. I can see him getting canned after the
All-Star break depending on our record.

As much as I'd like a change (actually I'd like Monty to stay, just become a better coach) I think he finishes the season. 1st year with this group but if he misses the playoffs by more than a few games, he gone.

The team is 6-8 with 4 of those W's coming against Utah, Cleveland, Philly, and Charlotte. They had a soft schedule to start the year and lost to Orlando (by 20), Phoenix twice, and freaking Utah.

Win 2 of those 4 and we are sitting at 8-6. I'm not sure if that's a positive or negative but I'm going with negative. On talent alone, we should have been able to pull out 2 of those.

Also, I'm not exactly mad we lost to the Spurs. They are world beaters right now but it was the way we lost some of these games. Once they get down, it gets away from them in a flash and that can't happen in a game of runs. I like the way we played last night, just missed the last shot but we gave ourselves a shot to win.

My theory on him being threatened\warned after the Spurs game. Spurs game, first qtr, go on an 9 or 11 point run on big momentum play one after the other. Monty let them play through it.

GS game, first qtr, they hit one big three and get a lay up and Monty calls the first timeout.

I may be reaching here but anyone would have called the first time out earlier vs the spurs, he didnt but was real quick to call it last night.

Last second losses to two premier teams in Indiana and Golden State.

Inconsistent is the best way to describe this strange season.

The only way he gets fired earlier is if another coach gets fired and that team starts going after a coach the FO wants.

And I don't think they hire Karl if Monty does get canned.

This, I think he stays and gets the dreaded vote of confidence after the all star break.

Those are frustrating but I'm ok to losing to teams who are clearly better right now. They played well in both games and gave themselves a shot to win.

I'm okay with those loses too, but losing by double digits to teams that we are better than is why there's a problem.

If the Pels are around .500 the whole year Monty will not be fired mid-season

December’s schedule is brutal, including a 5 game road trip against Denver, Golden State, the Clippers, Portland, and Sacramento. If they can’t learn to win on the road, we could be looking at a team that is 10 or more games below .500 heading into January.

We didn't take full advantage of the soft schedule to open the year
