Durable carry on travel luggage

I'm looking for a new carry on bag for travel. I don't want something with wheels. I'm looking at Filson luggage but nothing they have seems to have the combo i need. Want something that will hold my laptop plus a day or two worth of clothes and a jacket. Any other brands recommended besides Filson? Need to get it to the SO for a christmas present. Thanks in advance.
