Does one exist?

I used to work in student media so I love KLSU, but if you catch a shitty DJ it can be a rough couple of hours

I've been hearing some Motown on KLSU lately. Is that what hipsters are into now?

Yeah, KLSU...but as someone else said, it varies by DJ

If you can pick up Southeastern's radio station. I know it use to be pretty decent.

91.1 is pretty good. I prefer it to WTUL.

I'm partial to KLSU, as I go back to dorm-limited WLSU, but let's also tip a hat to:
1) Hootenany Power Saturday nights on WRKF 89.3. Taylor Caffery has been hosting the show for decades.
2) Mid City low-power station 96.9 WHYR also plays some alternative / indie music when they are not in political-talk mode.

WTUL is great In NO...makes KLSU look like a bake sale

I disagree 100%. The DJs are unbearable and the music they play blows half the time. Its like a competition to see who can play the most obscure shite (although they invariably sprinkle their playlists with token Smith or Joy Division songs). I want to hear modern alternative and indie music, not Romanian cereal cartoon jingles

In the early days of KLSU (then WPRG), I was on the air and received a call on the request line just blistering me for playing whatever newly-released music that was on. When asked why he was upset, the caller explained that he had already heard that tune once at the music store (Leisure Landing, if it matters), and he wanted to hear something else.
O-o-o-kay.

91.1 had old 8-bit video game music one time. It was awesome.

Think that show is still on. Pretty fun listen.
Saturday
3 p.m. – 5 p.m. The Arcade with Bender and Miniboss (Video Game music)

Nice to see someone older than me on here. I was a DJ when it was still in the stadium but KLSU by then. Helped move the station to Hatcher basement and then things went downhill.

If you haven't visited the KLSU studios in years -- or even back to when they moved -- you should stop by and get the 10-second tour. Pretty sophisticated technology from what we played with at 103 E. Stadium.

Rock 92.3 plays a fair amount of indie rock in between all of the other stuff they play.

Unless things have changed, the stuff during the day is pre-programmed. The specialty shows at night and early AM are when the DJs can play what they want to play.

?? Are they really still relevant? I even wore a KTRU shirt back in 1973- in the 70's, they were the station to listen to. The few times I heard them since, I have not been impressed.
Rice Radio, KTRU here in Houston is the best ever, but now they are internet only, which is sad, they exposed me to so much great music over the years.

This is the only radio station within hundreds of miles worth listening to, and it's a great one.

They've been doing that for a long time. Al Green is a staple. One of the reasons I like them so much.
You might be hearing Charles Bradley too, who is an awesome current artist.
