I've just been thinking about a couple small discussion topics about the game and wanted to see how you all felt.

-Playing well in the 1st: I feel like a lot of times this year we've struggled to come out swinging, both offensively and defensively. Obviously this has not been the case every game (do not kill me) but it's definitely happened more often than not. This DOES tell us that we are very good at adjustments (Rob Ryan ) but against Seattle in that extremely hostile and artificially loud environment, we DESPERATELY need to get an early lead. We need to FORCE THEM to pass the ball so our DL can kick Wilson's teeth in. We definitely don't want Lynch running on us all game. If we let them get a sizable lead, he will run on us all night. We need some very good scripted drives early to punch them in the teeth.

-Jimmy vs Richard Sherman: as much as I hate the guy's attitude, he's good. He's damn good. He's better than Talib, and you can bet he will be on Jimmy ALL NIGHT. We NEED to prepare the rest of the receiving corps to play ball. Setup more designed plays for the rest of the guys. We have been using Watson and Hill more; lets run some 2 TE sets and throw to those guys. As long as Jimmy is drawing their toughest coverage, the rest of the receivers should have a chance. Drew needs to acknowledge that he CANNOT force the ball to Jimmy this game. If he's open, sure. But how likely is that?

-Running the ball: PT looked awesome yesterday, and even Ingram is showing some intensity, but we're going to need 150% effort from these guys this week. Seattle is extremely physical on defense. They are going to stop traditional runs. We need to run more counters, tosses, etc and keep them off balance. This includes screens with the screen king, of course.

-Pressure: this one is obvious, but it's important. Russel Wilson is 13-0 at home. We can't let him get comfortable. Seattle's OL is starting to get healthy; we need to abuse them anyways. I have no doubt that we will get pressure, but we need to make sure it's in his face ALL NIGHT. Their WR corps is definitely getting better and Harvin returning isn't good for us, especially with Greer out. If the DL plays lights out, it takes some pressure off the young guys we will no doubt be using in the secondary (White, Carr).

I am confident in this team. I am confident in their preparation and I know that Drew, Sean and RR will no doubt he firing on all cylinders for the next week and a half to get ready for this game. We are capable of winning, of that I have no doubt. We just need to be on our best. Let's do it.

I disagree with this.

They actually rank lower than us in terms of rush defense. They give slightly more yards per game, and they average 4.2 per rush.

We can run if we want to.

Which part? That he's better than Talib, or that he'll be on Jimmy all night?

I'd be fine with Sherman covering Graham all game. Just means Colston, Stills, Moore, Watson, and Sproles are going to see less coverage

Talib may be a better matchup against Graham, but that doesn't mean he's the better CB.

Ok, part of that performance was Talib.

A lot of it was an injury to Graham, as I recall.

I feel like with those big corners, Toon and Moore may have a big game using their quickness. Hopefully Sproles will be close to 100% with the long break.

Eta... I would like Watson to break out, he has made some plays but gets kept in to block alot. Maybe since our OL is playing better we can just leave Collins in to block and let Watson run more routes along with Graham.

They have one if the better O-lines in the league, they just haven't had them all healthy for awhile.

A lot more consistent that ours has been this year. With Evans back for that game and with the progress the line has shown every week, I think our guys can keep up.

I remember back in 07 when we were 0-4 and no one was giving us a chance to go to Seattle and win. Long story short we whooped their arse 28-17. We will do the same next Monday.

I seriously doubt this. Seattle is so confident in their DBs that they don't have Sherman shadow opposing receivers, at least not normally. Maybe this will be different with Browner out.

Stack the line, force Wilson to beat you. Hope the offense plays a consistent 60 minutes and scores at least 24 points.

He doesn't need to... He's fulfilled his role on this team perfectly

I thought Seattle likes to play their corners on their respective sides, not moving them to match up with particular receivers. So we likely won't see Sherman on Graham unless he is split out wide on Sherman's side.

The key for the Saints is not to fall behind early and become one dimensional. So the defense needs early stops and the offense needs to be productive and balanced early. This can be said about every game, but this one is even more true.
