want to start camping and hitting the state parks. Something fun for the family. Looking for a 10 person tent. What would you guys recommend?

Bought a nice Coleman at Target that supposed to sleep 10. Probably doesn't though.

Pay the extra bucks and make sure it's waterproof.. LL Bean or Eureka are good quality.

I camp a ton - get an REI tent especially the Kingdom 8 if car camping. I would never buy anything larger - we use two tents when more than 6 are camping to make it more comfortable. I would get 2 Kingdom 8 tents for 12 people.

Man that is a solid tip there. I would've never thought of that but can see the benefits.

We use two tents a lot also. Two smaller tents are lighter and usually easier to set up.

I like smaller tents in the winter they seem to hold heat in better, also they don't catch as much wind.

All you need. I have an 8 man that it probably 15 years (hard years) old and still good to go. All the flaps and zippers are still solid and the walls & rain fly don't leak. It has a few hols in the floor, but I always use a ground tarp so it isn't a big deal. Very light and takes about 5 min to set up and break down.

Have heard they have lost a step the last few years.
Their bread and butter Timberline tent isn't near the quality of years past. Prolly sold out like so many companies.

Uh - that's a lot of folks in 1 tent - I recommend 2 to 3 tents for this set up 2x 6-person or 3x 4-person tents will give you the capacity you want.

You have a lot of kids, yo?

(I'm partial to Kelty as a brand - solid, solid stuff, but not inexpensive - quality rarely is.)
