I've used my Calcutta 151 for 15+ years and fully intend on continuing to use it. I just want to add another to the arsenal since the 151 is my only baitcaster right now. Looking for something around $80-$110 that SO can give me for Christmas (I always buy what I want/need so I never have any ideas left come Christmas and Birthday time).

Calcutta is the only line of bait caster I've ever used so I'm not too knowledgeable on the others. Looking to use it on specs/reds casting plastics.

I think Shimano Citica is in that range. It's not my primary baitcaster but it does just fine.

You're on the low end of the Shimano spectrum. I think a Citica is around $130 last I checked.

I still have a few Calcuttas sitting in the top of my toolbox. They;re absolute junk compared to the older model Curados and the new Abu Revo's. Both low profile reels that blow away the competition. Do yourself a favor and get either the new Abu Revo inshore of the Chronarch(same as the previous Curado)

I'm sure it's a nice reel. Just not "saltwater Model"

I've used my citica and Chronarch for a while now and it doesn't even sniff the jock off of my Calcutta 200b. It can cast way further and fishes like a dream with 30# power pro. I understand it's out of your price range, but nothing can compare to be honest.

All I'm throwing is a cork right now, so it's all spinning reels for me. I might break out the Chronarch this weekend

first off, frick. abu. garcia. and anything they make, last two reels i bought from them this year was shite, thank god they at least admitted it and took it back

second,

third, listen to the chronatech people, shimano reels are tough as nails imo, i've never had a problem, but that is just me.. and if you do they'll take it right back and give you a new one

buy it from academy/cabela's, they are better about returns imo

Piggybacking on the thread. Apologies.

Anyone here know anything about Curado Bantam? My dad just gave me one of his old ones.
