As his numbers increase, teams will adjust defensively to his limitations. Right now, he has definitely been a spark, though. It's going to be interesting to watch the ebb and flow of adjustments in that regard. I think what you're going to see is Rivers and Roberts used a little more situationally, or even more of a "hot hand" mentality.

To what extent? The general public's biggest discussion has been about the rebrand itself.

Hell I was on a skype conference call with some Oregon banking bigwigs last week while wearing a Pelicans polo and wanted to jump through the screen and lay the smack down because they kept making fun of Pierre.

Yeah I was referring more to people in the greater NOLA area. Those would be the people I would expect to talk about the Pelicans from day to day.

Oregon banking big wigs? I guess you have a pretty loose definition of bigwigs.

And are you really arguing that people only discuss the Pelicns on the Internet?

Yes.

Where do you work? A sporting goods store? The average person in the NOLA metro doesn't care about the Pels. Sad but true. #Metallica

Chris Anderson, Gustavo Ayon and Robert Traylor were all once cheered loudly by the fans

Of all of my friends (I do have a couple), only 1 gives a shite about the Pelicans. Even the ones that attend games from time to time don't discuss them. They come to my house every week for a gathering and only 1 other guy talks about the Pelicans. Hell, at least 3 of them are registered users on Tigerdroppings, but I've never seen them on this board.

I work at a place that would not allow me to accumulate 10k posts in less than a year, for starters.

I'm not arguing that the average person cares about the Pels, just that some people do that dont talk about it on the Internet. I mean there are like 15 primary posters on this site, half of which don't go to games. You aren't making a point.

This board is full of obnoxious know-it-alls that drive away other fans

Internet message boards require a certain amount of work because the currency here is facts, figures and backing up your points with data and logic. If you don't want to go to those lengths but still discuss the team many people discuss the team with their friends on twitter. Now that does leave an under representation of people over 35 that don't want to play the message board game, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're completely out of touch.

I work with about 4 other guys that talk hornets/pelicans nonstop throughout the season, and I am the only one that is even registered to a message board.

And are any of their views significantly different than the variety of views that are discussed here? Are they talking about things we aren't? Have you or any of the 4 other guys you talk with ever expressed the level of outrage over Rivers that shamelesspel has?

What?

You people are ridiculous. Seriously arguing that the only people that care about the team discuss it on this board?

My original point is that if the regular posters on this board didnt have this attitude that they contained supreme knowledge of the team and balk at any new poster with an opinion, than this board would be a bit more active, and not have the same slapdicks arguing the same topics over and over.

You are the only person claiming anything remotely close to that. But this board certainly discusses the team and cares more about the team than the 99% of the general public of New Orleans or South Louisiana as a whole.

No not at all. Again, my point is to let go of the mindset that only the people on this board know anything or care about the NBA, and you might get some more users to come here. This board is depressing, we both know that. I would like to be able to come on here time to time when I am watching a game by myself on a Wednesday, and rationally discuss what I see rather than seeing a bunch of guys whining about the same shite day after day.

In the vein of the argument that Pelicans fans are few and far between, there could certainly be a more open environment to invite more Pelicans fans on this board, if there wasn't this feeling that this board is some 'Super fan Pelican Club,' and everyone that doesnt spend every night on this board doesn't know dick about the Pelicans or the NBA. I mean I know it is true, because I am one of those people; behind LSU football, this franchise is the team I follow most closely.

I don't think that's the case at all. Certainly there are some clowns, but there are a good number of posters that want to talk hoops. That want to have legitimate discussions about the team and are willing to go back and forth. This board has that and a bonkers side as well.

My only complaint is the sheer number of trolls that come out of the woodworks any time the team loses.

Yes.

Again, I am not arguing that there is not more Pelicans discussion on the PELICANS MESSAGE BOARD than any random discussion happening in NOLA, I am simply arguing that it is not the only place that people discuss the team. I'm really not making a profound statement here.

The personal attacks are a bit over the top, and the does not self-police the bad posters / faulty arguments / trolls.

Agreed. For me, it's all about figuring out who is interested in discussion or just having some fun and ignoring those who are just flaming everything.

I enjoy the board much more that way.

Fair enough.

I do think there have been a few good threads here lately that had solid discussion and weren't started or shite on by trolls.

I will just say that if you want the board to be better, don't be afraid to participate. Start threads, add to the topics, etc. More posters who want to talk about the team in a serious (that doesn't exclude humor at all) way are always welcome.
