Very Important

Saints (8-2) over Falcons (2-8)

Important

Dolphins (5-5) over Panthers (7-3)

Relevant

Giants (4-6) over Cowboys (5-5)
Redksins (3-7) over 49ers (6-4)
Cardinals (6-4) over Colts (7-3)
Jets (5-5) over Ravens (4-6)
Bears (6-4) over Rams (4-6)
Packers (5-5) over Vikings (2-8)
Lions (6-4) over Buccaneers (2-8)

Explanations

Some of the picks (Lions over Bucs, Giants over Cowboys and especially Cards over Colts) may seem counter-intuitive. Rationale is that Cards still play Seahawks later this year so we want them to be relevant in playoff chase. Ditto for Giants, who are a dangerous obstacle for Seattle late in the season. Jets play Carolina in a few weeks so we'd like them to stay in playoff contention as well. Bears over Rams because St. Louis has been frisky of late and we'd like them eliminated by the time our beloved Saints go marching into St. Louis in mid-December.

Rooting for Packers and Lions respectively to keep alive my pipe-dream scenario of Saints hosting Detroit in Divisional round while Seattle has to deal with pesky 6th seed Green Bay and a healthy Aaron Rodgers as all of Wisconsin craves REVENGE for last season's Hail Mary fiasco on MNF in Seattle.

A great debate was fostered (and lost) by your humble OP in regards to the Fightin' Flatbills visiting the Washington Redskins game. I think we should root for San Francisco, but the majority disagrees with me.

Screw the 49ers and the brokeback cowboys they rode in on.

We're 3 games ahead of San Francisco. They pose no threat to us and are a potential ally versus Seattle.

I fear that a 3rd straight loss (Car, NO, Was) might ruin their season. A win bucks them up and gets them focused on Seattle. Remember that even if we BEAT Seattle, we still likely need them to have another loss, as it will be awfully tough for our beloved Saints to sweep Carolina, win at St. Louis, at Atlanta, and v's Tampa Bay in the dome as the cherry.

I think you are digging here. I prefer the 49ers lose out and miss the playoffs. The likelihood of them chasing down Seattle is remote. I prefer to focus on the Saints winning out followed by 49ers missing playoffs. RG3 for the win!!!!

I don't get the animosity. We would have beaten them by 3 touchdowns if not for Lance Moore's muffed pount, White's touchdown cum touchback, and having to settle for FG's in the red zone. We're 3 games ahead of them with 6 left to play.

They're not a threat to us but they DO host Seattle in a bitter divisional rivalry game in a few weeks.

Then you are either very young or a fresh bandwagon fan. No long time Saints fan should need an explanation of our dislike of the 49ers.

You're wrong on the 9ers.

They won't need any motivation when playing Seattle.

I would prefer them to lose every game but the Seattle one. We don't want them in the playoffs.

and they'll be up for that game regardless.

too much emphasis on home field...you'll see when we crush seattle. Would I like it, yes...but it doesn't mean we won't host the NFC title game. So long as we get that first round bye...that is all that matters. The Seahawks are toast in the playoffs.

the teams that worry me in a playoff game are

san fran
green bay

there is a distinct possibility neither makes the playoffs

You don't? How old are you? Also, they beat us the past 2 seasons, with that playoff loss being heartbreaking. I certainly get the animosity.

I was at the Jerry Rice fumble game. I get the hatred normally (and felt it just 2 days ago). But like any brilliant strategic mind, I'm capable of shifting on a moment's notice to best suit my OWN selfish needs.

I don't see how they could worry you. Their QB is a fricking retard and we were clearly 3 TD's better than them. Plus we'd obviously be playing them in the Dome.

I appreciate the debate and def. see where you guys are coming from. I've switched that controversial game but still reserve the right to disagree with you

You are delusional if you are equating your strategy to brilliance.

A great defence is bad to face in the play-offs. kap got hot in their run last year sooooooo no. I would rather them sh!t the bed now and miss the playoffs. Too dangerous of a team.

The 49ers are a shell of their formers selves, and I like it that way.

regardless of how shitty their qb is right now, he might be better in 8 weeks.

Their defense is the most physical D in the league.

They have an excellent run game (I know we just shut them down on the ground)

I think we'd win, but who wants to see that in the playoffs?

Rodgers and Lacy...no thanks to that either.
