SEC Scheduling Strategy and Night Games in TS

One of the factors that play into so many of our home games getting moved to the afternoon under the current TV contracts is that there are no other appealing games on the same Saturdays as our home games.
Consider this year:
4 SEC away games: 1 day (UGA), the other 3 night (State, OM, and Bama)
4 SEC home games: 3 day (UF, A&M, and Arky), 1 night (Auburn)
Is there any reason that the dates of our home SEC games can't be scheduled opposite (traditional) marquee matchups? This would be a win-win-win. The networks get what they want, the SEC gets what it wants, and most importantly we would get what we want.

Because we are a national brand and get major ratings. Thus CBS wants us on tv often. They only get one prime time night game a year. So we get stuck at 230 a lot. Victim of our own popularity.

But that doesn't explain why 3 of our 4 away games were at night (well I guess it does it somewhat 'splain the Bama game at night).
Consider if it were the other way around, i.e., that 3/4 away games were daytime. No one would care. And if 3/4 home games were at night I think (now) Tiger fans would be ok with that.

Just a year ago lsu played bama, South Carolina, and MSU at home under the lights. That's the way the schedule works. Few if any teams play the majority of their conference home games at night every year.

2:30 is a fine compromise if it keeps the 11 am starts away.

Indeed. Look at can be annoying but I really don't see it as a slight to LSU. We get paid to for that time slot. The games are on every TV in every bar/restaurant in America at that time.
We start becoming less "desirable" it's boom or bust--11 am or night.
2:30 is just fine.
Here is Bama's SEC Schedule:
@ atm 2:30 CBS
vs. Ole Miss 5:30 ESPN
@ Kentucky 6 ESPN
vs Arkansas 6 ESPN
vs Tennessee 2:30 CBS
vs LSU 7 PM CBS
@ MSU 6:45 ESPN
@ Auburn 2:30 CBS
That's where we want to be, right? No 11 games, max exposure. Well, 1/2 of their games are on CBS, 3/8 at 2:30.

Maybe with the launch of the SEC network next year some of our home games may get pushed to the night games. I think its a crock of shite that CBS gets first pick for the 2:30 game, and its almost always LSU. I would like to see LSU play the gumps and ole piss at night next year.

I'm gonna try to turn the tables on you using your own line of argumentation - if we want as much exposure as Bama is getting, then note that 3/4 of their home games this year were at night (I'm counting the 5:30 OM game at night - late enough for me in this day & time).
My point in the OP is that we would get the same exposure across the season - it's that the daytime exposure is from the away games and the nighttime exposure from home games.
One way to help make this happen is to get our home games scheduled opposite other marquee SEC matchups.
As for exposure, my guess is that there are more serious CFB fans watching at night than during the day and how cool is it to turn on CFB at night with TS going crazy?

I traveled around the US quite a bit and found a huge amount of LSU fans who had never even been to Louisiana. These were mostly older men (and not a few of their sons) who had routinely listened to Saturday night LSU football on the radio (Thank you WWL, JC Politz, and John Ferguson!). During the 50s, 60s, and early 70s, LSU was the only college game they could get on a Saturday night. LSU's signature around the country was Saturday night games! I have always thought LSU should leverage it's national attention to DEMAND night games in Tiger Stadium. Alas, our AD's are loathe to buck the SEC and possible loss of revenue. IHMO, with the plethora of sports broadcasting now, LSU could tell the SEC to stick it on TV requirements and still end up with all televised night games.

I've listened to many an LSU game on WWL, all over the country. Their signal isn't like it used to be, but you can get it clearly this time of year on a lot of the east coast at night. Used to watch games at Turtle Bay or Legends and listen to Deke with the post-game show from around Newark Airport all the way to mid-Maryland.

I don't think we can tell that to the SEC. What I'm proposing is win-win-win - the SEC gets what they want, the networks get what they want, and we get what we want (most of the time).

If you think LSU has that much leverage, you are living in fantasy land. LSU may have some national attention, but nowhere close to enough to bully the SEC or the broadcasters in to mandating all of their games being at night. I'm sure all of the other SEC schools would be thrilled at the thought of losing millons of dollars in revenue because one of their member institutions did not want to agree and/or breeched the terms of the TV contract. If that were the case, I think the SEC would just kindly ask LSU to leave and have fun missing out on the millions upon millions that they would be giving up just to play all home games at night.
The CBS/SEC agreement has been in place for damn near 20 years. I think it's time to get past the whole "we only play night games" bullshite.

Your opinion/explanation is largely correct...however, the lack of gonads by our athletic admins. , often leads to such abominations as 1:30 black Fri. games and inexplicably going along with a "locked in" Thanksgiving game every other year @ Tam w/o so much as securing a nite Sat. game in B.R.
How can it be that LSU gives,gives,gives and gives and gets soooooo little of what its' fans want ???? ALL contracts are negotiable...that's the definition of a contractual agreement. Either the SEC or LSU is doing a very POOR job of repping LSU !!
