I think most fans of WBB agree (and if your not one, fine, go away) this is BIG year to see if NC is who many thought/think she is. But looking over our sigining class for this year (and the last three) we have no top 20 teams, was suprised to see this. Maybe others do not think it is a concern we were not among six SEC teams who had top 20 classes, but I worry about this. I guess those who are pro and con NC will know a lot after this year, but so far I am less than ready to call this a good hire.

Let's hope we get a new coach soon who doesn't break the budget and can win basketball games. I'm all for every lsu when it comes to sports, but she's way over paid.

She has been to the tournament the last 2 years and this team is better than the one that made the sweet 16 last year. Recruiting has been pretty subpar but has also produced some stud players in the last couple years. Hand, ballard, moncrief are examples.

What makes you think any other coach we hire would be paid less?

For what she is paid that is nowhere close to being an acceptable standard of performance

I agree 100%, the next coach will not be paid anything less, so we all should root for her to win, it's a half full half empty thing on nc

half full- two ncaa's, a sweet 16, team came on strong in late year wins both years, beat some top teams, development of TP from role player to all sec, solid sec trny runs

half empty, mid season woes, 3 losses to Tulane, male coach bad arrest, but never pubilcly disciplined, sec regular season record not where it needs to be,

too early on recruiting (rankings not always good indicator, state talent not great last few years), assistant coaches,

I think all agree, this year will tell a lot...

The program was not in the best of shape when she first came in.

OP, now you have done it, you have questioned the great NC!!! How dare you, arrest for harrasing women by a male asst coach, 2 losses to Tulane who we were 34-3 against before NC, 5th-6th place SEC finishes, its all Van's fault....here comes sainstfan and lsualum...

but in all honesty, I agree this is the year to see if NC can take us back where we belong and by that I mean top 3 SEC regular season finish, sweet 16 or more and no "bad losses" i.e. Hampton, Tulane, La Tech etc. Anything less is IMHO below par, as for recruting rankings while I am not thrilled we have had no top 20 classes under NC, this is far from a reason to feel good/bad as state of LA has been down last few years...just win baby, and the rest falls into place...

??

10-6 both years is "not where it needs to be"???

And they signed a big high scoring post player for next year to go with the class from this year that is good...I think they will be fine.

NC inherited Webb and Plaisance from VC. She hasn't replaced Plaisance yet through high school recruiting and is stuck for two more years with Youngblood. She got a transfer from Memphis but the future of the program depends on whether LSU can land Kalani Brown next year.

Sue/Pokey were Skip. Van was a poor man's Smoke. Nikki is PM.

The amount of complaining for following a no tourney season under Van with 2nd rd and Sweet 16 is ludicrous. I get the bitching from people who don't follow wbk and think she makes too much(they usually don't know how much) but for people who follow is it the Tenn. thing, do her looks make you nervous?

yawn......

The same 'ol criticism that shows up on this board about Nikki. All she's done is win since she's been here and folks are complaining.

The first season she took a team that Van drove into mediocrity, and led them to the SEC tournament championship game. In her SECOND season, the team made the NCAA sweet sixteen. This season's team is full of scorers and probably, the most talented since she's been here.....................and all folks can do is complain.

Wha........what? The "future of the program" is dependent upon getting one player? C'mon now.............you don't actually believe that?

Recruiting is fine. Yes, we'll need to get another post player. Trust that the coaching staff knows that. We're LOADED at the guard position for the next two years at least. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this season. It's gonna be a great one.

Exactly. Who's to say that she gets to college and she's like the top 5 recruit that supposed to be Van's savior. Just think if somebody told Johnny Jones your entire tenure depends on Rico Gathers and Craig Victor.

As for future bigs: with the 10 sec violation now in place I'm wondering if abandoning traditional 2 bigs setup and going with a small lineup that presses and traps all game will work. Just go 4 guards and one athletic 6'3''ish big. Let's face it 90% of women's basketball teams would turn the ball over constantly against 40 minutes of hell. I think UK will benefit from this greatly this year.

Lot of people thought Trent's tenure depended on it. She is more akin to Fournette or Jarell Martin than those others.
